I've been researching this for days, literally, and have not found a definite answer. I am getting a spindle lift soon and I have method standards on the way. 17x8.5 4.72 or 4.5 backspacing not sure yet. I just need to have the rims and tires on for a month or two without a lift. I would do 265 but I know they'll look a little too small with the lift once its on. I dont want to do 285 because I don't want to do a cab mount chop and I know they won't fit without a lift. I know 265s will fit without issue. I have heard that 275 will fit stock with no lift and a little bjt of trimming and ive heard that they won't. Does anyone have a definite answer???

I'm running 265/70/17 with a mild lift and it looks tight .

You'll be ok with 275/70/17 for a few weeks as long as you don't do any wheeling and are ok with a slight rub at full lock . But I wouldn't recommend this size to someone that doesn't plan on lifting

I run 275/70/17 with no rub , but I'm on factory Sport alloys , I think you may have more rubbing issues with the wheels you are planning on using OP

It does fit but rubs when you turn the wheel about 45 degrees. 2020 Tacoma Sport 4x4.

What size lift? I run 285s on my Prerunner and they don’t rub at all. Also running JBAs which helps.

Can I put this size with stock suspension on a 3 rd gen 2021 Tacoma trd off road 2x4 with no mud flaps and not have rubbing issues. I’m going with the fx pro wheels with 0 offset. ??? I really don’t wanna do any trimming and I love the look of the wider tire.

has anyone tried this size tire setup on a 2021 Off Road premium, with the TRD factory lift? (2 inch front and 1” rear lift)? I am planning on getting 17 inch wheels and would like to know if I should bother with this size or just stick to stock 265? Will occasionally take off road a little here and there, camping, highway, city… any input there from anyone who’s got that setup?

I’m planning on 17” rims, with either 0, or a -12 offset. Don’t want to CMC, slight trimming possible, if it would clear fine with that. Is there any downsides to trimming fender/pinch?

That size should fit with that lift. But I wouldn’t go passed -6 offset. The more offset you go the more rubbing and trimming you will encounter.

But that sounds like a great set up. Stock is +25 offset so anything 0 to -6 with that tire size will look really awesome. The more offset you go will throw off the look of the truck. The tires will start to stick out too far from the wheel well. Unless you like that particular look. I personally do not like it. To me it throws the truck off. Plus you’ll start to have additional issues down the road

That’s my truck magnetic grey metallic. Those are 265/70/17 toyos with 0 offset. The other truck the silver one is stock rims and tires with +25 offset. As you can see that’s a big difference already. If you go 275 size it will stick out a bit more at a 0 offset which would look bad ass with a slight lift.

Nice, that’s good to know. I had trouble getting any input on that. Would like to keep as much functionality and get as much tire as I can on that slight lift setup, without looking too stuffed, or having to trim a bunch… if any. That lift setup is also the only one certified to work along with the Toyota safety sense (TSS) system & comes with a better grill I.M.O.

I’m also in Canada, so putting winters on my stock rims and just sell the stock tires. Trying to avoid coil overs as they do not, fair as well in the cold. I’m fine with a 0 to -6 offset… just need to find that wheels/tire combo package, or separate $$$. Does backspacing matter, to?

You’ll be fine. Just don’t go pass - 6 on offset if possible and you’ll be fine.

Backspacing should not matter. It’s usually half of the wheel width. iE: a 17/8 wheels should 4.5 of backspace. For a 275 tire a 17/8 is the best wheel set up.
