Plenty of the trails are stock friendly and I am not using @BadDNA ’s interpretation of what stock friendly means. :D

I have a similar setup from Warfab Armor, he’s a member on here. It really helps on the doublecab longbed because the hitch is always dragging.

After this weekend my definition of stock friendly is out the window lmao. As much as I'd love to join, work has been super hectic lately so I'm gonna preemptively say it's a negative for me. Hopefully next time and hopefully I'll be a little less stock haha

It haven’t rained much the last 3 weeks. If that trend continues the place will be a dust bowl.

I want to make something clear to the community.

    1) The idea to put a recovery point on the hitch skid was not an original one to me. I definitely saw examples of this online, most notably from Warfab. My part is essentially a DIY from parts laying around version of their highly professional product.
    2) I do NOT wish to sell the hitch skid as a product or pass it off as an original idea.
    3) I made and posted this to display that one can recycle other parts and make things themself.
    4) Any files I have gotten from this or other forums I use in an ethical way, I have NO intentions of taking a digital file someone else made and selling it as my own product.
5)I DO want to offer up my services to others on this site, for cheaper and more custome oriented services.
    6) If and when I do offer IFS or other skid plates it will be on an indevidual basis, and you are essentially buying my time and use of my machines, not the file.

Sorry to clog up the feed, but I have received some interesting "feedback" from another member.

I feel making my intentions clear can only help the situation and quell the concerns.

I didn't think anyone was under the impression you were trying to pass this off as your own for personal gain, I thought you were very forthcoming from the get go.

    Damn dude,

It bums me out that you had to make this post. You'd have thought it was obvious you were just showing us something you put together. I never got the feeling you were trying to steal ideas or anything like that

no worries! It’s about intentions, just trying to clear them up.

You are good with all of us. If there is one person making noise, you just need to tune that person out. If 20 people are up in arms, then maybe they have a point.

It’s not like the idea of putting metal under a truck is a new concept to you or any current manufacturer that makes things like these. If you are taking essentially freeware designs, and producing them for the cost of the steel and your labor on a commission by commission basis, it is no different than me taking the freeware design to my local metal fabricator and having them do the same thing. I am just giving the business to a fab shop who is part of the community and maybe you gain some efficiently by having made the same part over and over.

Correct me if I am wrong, but truck parts is not the the focus of your fabrication business. If your intention was to open JDUB Off Road and have a website with the JDUB IFS skid plate and the JDUB hitch skid and this and that. Then you should be looking at original designs or paying the creator a license fee.

I will tell you there is a commercial desire and utility to having you (or anyone) in the Northeast start producing these big heavy metal body armor components. Geography plays a huge factor into the cost of these goods because of the freight involved. I need sliders. All the favorite vendors on this site who make great products and have great reputations are all a thousand miles away. If I want sliders 1/3 of the money I am paying is to the freight carrier to get them here. I would love to have a local person I could drive to and pick them up. It would be a brilliant move on the part of one of these well known west coast vendors to partner with a contractor manufacturer on the east coast to cut shipping costs.

Extremely tempting. Wish I could. For starters the truck is in no condition for off road right now. Secondly I think there's a follow up safety course I'm looking at taking that day. :fenforcer::anonymous:
