Having the right tool for the job can make life so much easier. With the Total Chaos lower control arms requiring a 5/8 12 point there is no way to get a socket or wrench on there without taking it apart. Recently the C Nut backed off and I wanted a way to snug this up at the shop or on trail while assembled.

Luckily I had an old 5/8 wrench laying around. Using a mill, or grinder, remove the upper and lower taper of the box wrench portion till the wrench is 2-3mm thick. Now it is possible to tighten the lower ball joint without removal. 20201021_141828.jpg
Initially there was a concern that the wrench would be weaker. I tested it applying a 4' breaker bar to a scrap bolt. Wrench held fine. The head of the bolt spun right off. While this wrench truly only serves one purpose, it now has a permanent place in the trail bag!

Glad you figured out a solution.
