Hi I am new here, just bought my first used Taco in Aug 2020 and noticed there seems to be some play in the steering this past weekend. I checked the steering column and tie rods which all seem to be tight. When turning everything seems fine it’s when you correct or turn in the opposite direction that there seems to be some resistance? Kind feels like driving a tractor in a straight line. Any one have any ideas? Inner tie rod bearing maybe? I jacked her up and driver side had a little noise when checking for wheel bearing.

You say it can be hard to steer back? Steering joint. More than likely has some corrosion and it is binding up. Cheap way to tell is to blast it with your favorite penetrant and let it soak for a little bit. If the steering loosens up, you likely need a new joint.

No noise from steer, and everything for steering seems tight? I saw a couple vids on greasing the steering Ujoint which looks like it was replaced. Don’t know all the history on this truck. Only used the 4x4 once which worked great. I gave her a wash and that’s when it started acting up. Nothing leaking?
