BTW, I've never heard of a 8" drop bracket lift kit for the 3rd gen Tacoma. You might need to get something like that fabricated. BDS and Rough Country do sell 4" and 6" drop bracket lifts:

    https://bds-suspension.com/product?ma=12&mo=45&ty=1&yr=2016-2020
    https://www.roughcountry.com/toyota...1_dJd2Jt7WiYucqMaAkqMEALw_wcB#278=517&266=734

I suppose another way to get 8" total would be to combine a 6" drop bracket lift with a 2" coilover. In the back I think you can get custom 6" lift leaf springs and combine with a 2" block. You would then need to figure out how to fit proper length shocks into it. With 37's under it, total lift would be around 11". I'm sure someone has done something like this. Good luck and I hope you have a lot of spare cash and time.

Don't worry about the people that tell you not to do it. Sometimes doing things that people tell not to do are fun just because they told you not to do it. I have that thought every time I take my 2020 Tacoma rock crawling. Most people think I'm a bit stupid/crazy.

Don't get too many ideas from this guy though:

If it's your money, my suggestion is put it in an investment account and never touch it. If it's someone else's money.......my advice is the same......believe me, you will thank me in your 50's. If, however, you are the beneficiary of a large trust fund or inheritance, then ignore everything I said and have fun!

I'd say do it. I don't like telling people what to do, none of us know this fellow. Maybe he's a multi millionaire and can afford it. Imagine telling someone that bought an exotic hyper car that a regular exotic would be all the same. The guy wants to put together a custom truck...hey I wish I could too...so I'd say go for it!

not trolling lol. I have the money in hand to do the 6+2 lift and a wheel setup plus some extra for repairs. This forum is helping a lot though. I didn’t think I’d get so many replies so soon

If OP posted here asking for comments, well - he got them. Not everyone will think that he has a good plan.
I don't think anyone is telling HIM "Don't do it" - but he is getting feedback on the potential repercussions.

still definitely considering 35s. I just had the idea of 37s the other day and did my research but didn’t find anything on strictly street use so I figured I should make this post. I’m from East Texas and some of the show trucks here are wild lol just trying to stand out in a land of diesels and squatted chevys

24x14s are super popular for my age group in my area. I’ve seen em on Every truck to exist lol. I think the height being 6+ is important to me but after reading many of these responses, 37s are not as easy as I first thought

Ah bummer, in this instance. One of the only benefits of a 2wd (IMO) is being able to lift it up higher for cheaper because you can do a spindle lift.

To answer your question though, I say go for it. Sure you'll have increased wear on parts over time but you're not gonna be breaking shit left and right, assuming you have a quality lift and components.

I don’t think very many people can tell yes or no that you will break things with the bulld you propose, because very few people have actually built a Tacoma like that. There are a few people on here that have fit 37’s. You might send them a DM or post in one of the 37’s threads.

Ive heard of a few people turning their trucks from 4wd to 2wd because of cheaper lifts. Although I don’t off-road much I wouldn’t cheap out that far yea it’s a daily driver stays on the road 99% of the time and I can’t imagine I’d be on 37s for years and years. Just something I find cool for now
