My son showed up for a visit today with his T4R. He just put new summer tires on two weeks ago…Laufenn’s Which I have never heard of but I guess they are manufactured by Hankook. He’s getting married in a month so on a budget but says he is really happy with them so far. The price was under $800 out the door all in installed and balanced. Just thought I would post them up in case anybody is considering an economical option.

It’s his daily driver Street truck but he does have an RTT that he will put on soon.

Same thing with Sumitomo, my gf has them on her Mazda and its the parent company to Falken and another well known brand I think. They are satisfactory.
Jerimiah was certainly putting in work while I was there, I think he got a little annoyed by my interference :anonymous: oops

whatever is faster than the guy with the slowest pump is

    :ohsnap:
because at that point it doesn't matter what you get since we roll as a crew.
    i personally run this; https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/...re-inflator-with-case-2-min-0095032p.html#srp
inside the box, it fits perfectly behind the 60 Seat in the double cab and doesn't jiggle around

I was actually just looking at that one. Does it take standard fittings or the weird japan stuff like smittybilt?

i'm not aware of the weird Japanese fittings but i assume it's standard stuff? There is a hard connected hose to the pump that is about a foot long, and then a quick connect fitting on the other end. The red hose quick-connects to that and on the other end has threads that fit into our valves easily. in the box there is a second fuse as well as a needle point and a plastic taper that screw onto the threads at the end.

While the bumper was off, cleaned up the center brake light LED strip wiring.

Previously I had tapped into the trailer connector terminals and double-bagged the connector to keep water out:

    HfedHQJM-R3vPM8wTSnPC8CHuwzHFIIABS43lAVq_219ceaf9ec92b9fb6508ebc9efbf9f04db9a0154.jpg GbpZ7RLRI493S6JWKPUAiVaZZ-m6ZTH1Hvk3VynG_e7eeb7f4a8104f428ea64e61c7fd3bb055722b2b.jpg

It's now tapped into the LH brake light using one of Puppypunter's harnesses. I don't tow, so I capped off the connector with a blanking cap from the base model Tacoma.

Loaded the MobTown bumper onto the jack platform for test fit:

For some reason the bumper didn't sit level (as measured from the top of the bedrail), so I "keyholed" the forward mounting point, cutting through 1/4" steel:

    jVhohGOZzQwQsjqsYrDLtq4W4lXl6dCs0a5j-qEF_93ec22a3c8f1ea0f6513328da1cdcfb56f6ba25a.jpg uBS4_bk4WagTo8I3Zb6v2dBdOgH4QBtbsAkVGvLB_90328ecbbf7ac2a8e1db9156c735a2426aa4814e.jpg

Also decided to cut off the tow hitch tube between the frame plates, saving 25 lb. Cleaned up the cuts with a flap disc, primed and painted:

Painted the cut edges and installed the bumper:

The tailgate hits the bumper when down  I moved the cable attachment point up one hole:

    cI0o7Cy_Iq3EwgK45iUf9sOZvvtA17sZ5OZ0qF3u_b3ccaab73f57b4176aea6620be0bc14bbad56b20.jpg 288v0M9jJ05gIejxwO1GYvXCnp-Ub60jGU1VnZXj_dadbc3a57a8dcd45834bbbe0e4649468f469c76f.jpg

I then installed slightly longer cables Dorman P/N 38537 for 1st gen Tundras. Now there's 1/4" between the tailgate and bumper when down. The Dorman cables appear better built than Toyota OEM cables, with nice heatshrink boots over the swage fittings to keep water out.

Great job putting all that together and doing the custom cuts to make it fit nice. Looks like a heavy duty functional bumper providing you lots of protection with the tubing out to the sides. If you ever get rear ended Those recovery points will be like daggers!

I think the bumper was intended to sit lower. I noticed I had to cut more from the bedsides than instructed in Joe's video in order for the frame plate holes to line up. Ah well, now I have more departure clearance :D

Still need to mount the license plate and mudflaps tomorrow.

The Icon RXT leaf pack is holding up well. My rear ride height is only 1/4" lower than my previous measurement in Oct 2019. This is with the extra weight of the MobTown bumper and more than a year of settling.
