CBI sliders, ADS extend travel with compression adjuster coil overs, 9” Bilstein 5125 rear shocks, Icon Tubular UCA, Alcan custom leafs, All Pro Apex bumper and skids, NWTI rear diy bumper, 295/70/17 Cooper St Maxxs and nitro 4.88s.
Gave the truck some new oil and finally installed the additional leaf that alcan sent to me about 2 years ago to correct the taco lean. Now I’m leaning toward the passenger but it will settle quick.

Got some rock lights and a cheap light bar installed for some extra light this year. Also picked up the paranoid fab clock replacement for the switches. 28DABB7E-3711-4891-9778-710A1F34B4EE.jpg DA379D2B-0A46-465B-A1AA-EE9A43C0F0C7.jpg 39820639-89F6-4E75-85CF-7358BB14BE94.jpg

So since getting my scan gauge I’ve realized my tranny was running pretty hot, so to combat that I replaced the new oem HD fan clutch and a true cool trans cooler. I plan to drain and fill the fluid next week. EFFCDBB5-37F2-4805-9B7A-9704F3CDECDA.jpg EB13CEE3-B053-47E5-AB95-2BD859C2D138.jpg 4BEADFE6-700B-4934-A1C5-793FF0892BA5.jpg

Also planning on gearing up to do the big 3 and to upgrade to a higher output alternator.
    Here is the plan:
    Big 3 upgrade:
    (2.0 gauge wire)
    Alt + to battery +
    Battery - to frame
    Battery - to engine ground

    Starter to battery +
    Engine to firewall ground

EWCS 2 Gauge Premium Extra Flexible Welding Cable 600 Volt Combo Pack - Black+Red - 10 Feet of Each Color - Made in The USA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0167K7DO2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_80PT6NM3S39ZDMX054JJ?_encoding=UTF8

    Charging upgrade:
    Denso 210-0461 alternator
MK3 MINI BLADE 7.5A(might not need with new alternator)

Everything is ordered just waiting for the alternator

Drained and filled the tranny today. The fluid definitely needed to be changed.

Really want to get the alternator installed this week, but I don’t think I’ll be able to get to the big 3 upgrade as well.

@Digiratus hey do you have a picture of your rear relocation and the ads triple bypasses? Also what made you go with bypasses and not resi with click compression?

    A question Dan,
So that Denso alternator looks like a straight bolt in? Is it the one that would come with the stock Tow package? Looking for a back up for mine, sadly I don’t remember the brand, maybe a mean green.

Props on the rig, looking good, functional and solid. Like the rear bumper!

It’s a straight bolt up, moves the positive and plug to the bottom is the only difference. Here is the reference page about it:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/1st-gen-105-amp-bolt-in-alternator.630459/

Our trucks at highest have a 80 amp alternator which is what my truck has, this one is 105 amp and has a higher charging voltage. It’s from a different vehicle.

    And thanks!

I'm following, but forgot my wallet.
The Alternator swap, this seems like a good upgrade.
The front bumper, that's on my list, after the Sliders arrive.
Then there's a need for a winch, which I'm always watching out for.
Some swear by manual trans, but my AT does just fine, and I hate shifting.

I don’t want a MT either. But what I’ve learned, more recently that you got to manage the heat of the AT. A scan gauge helps figure out if that’s an issue for you. A trans cooler is a cheap and easy upgrade that I should have done years back.

My truck come loaded with all the essentials from the factory, so I've been taking things for granted since new.
I use to tow a 21ft flatbed trailer, loaded with quads, motorcycles, and camping gear all up and down the West Coast, in search of that better sandbox.
I never gave it any thoughts, the weight and hills that were in front of me. I just hammered down to get there as fast as I could. Time was wastin!!
All I've done to mine, is take care of it. Now it goes where it never did before. It got it's first owie, the first trip out, damnit!!

I kinda fell into that deal. I had been talking with Matt about "short body" 10" stroke rears with resis and clickers. I knew that ADS was starting to make the short body spec for our application. He asked if I was interested in a bypass type instead. He had a set setup with the correct length and all and offered it at a great price. Unfortunately, I've heard they've gotten quite a bit more expensive since then.

It is important to note that these bypasses add tuneability for rebound as well as compression and they incorporate a hard mounted resi. And it all fits within the space available on our rear suspension.

Any reason why you didn't box in the frame while you were there? Just curious, but I'd assume it was due to time constraint

Based on recommendations from others that are smarter than me about such things, we decided it wasn't necessary since I already have the Mercer Fab outer frame reinforcement plates.

And is that 1-1-2”x0.120” dom that you used for the cross member? Any complaints on the bypasses? I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on some rear shocks soon to get my suspension done. The bilsteins don’t pair well with the ADS fronts

We just used what I had around. I just went and measured it. The O.D. is 1.75"

The only complaint I've heard from users of bypasses is that they can be a bit noisy. I've learned to ignore the clicking they make on the trail. As for performance, they are pretty awesone and kinda fun to play around with, getting them adjusted. They definitely play nice with the front.

Excellent, that is a good option to ponder. The higher charging voltage is a good feature to be sure, definitely help with the AGM battery.

I’m still on the fence between the 3 options (now 4) but I think this narrows it down to either a Cadillac alternator or maybe this one, unless I can fit a tow package alternator from a second gen in there.
So far the Cadillac is in the lead based on cost and capacity.

Always nice to have options though. Enjoy the rig it will serve you well.
