    Yeah peel strength is a big one. Loctite makes a bunch of shit and without really lookin into it, you can get lost. Point is, don't buy that shit from Ace hardware, thats home gamer stuff. Get the structural stuff.

    You guys can pop the filler neck all the way off and just screw the fill cap in directly to the valve cover.

    Thanks! Ordered. A couple days ago, my dual-batteries beat my filler tube off the truck on a particularly long and irritating section of sandy washboard, southeast of Yuma (Luke AFB). By the time we'd figured it out, I'd only lost a quart of oil, and like everyone else, my skid plate caught the tube. One of the guys made a run to a hardware store in Yuma and picked up a cork stopper which worked perfect, with zero oil leaks. After I make the fix tomorrow, the cork goes in my tool bag, insuring this will never happen again.

    I replaced the OEM Tacoma Oil Filler Cap Housing with a stubby one as mentioned above. The part I purchased, as suggested by @Jowett, was #12185-38011, but the part #12185-38011 as mentioned by @CoWj might be shorter, and less expensive. :notsure:

    Oil Filler Cap Housing (Neck / Tube) bolts are 7 Ft Lbs torque:

    Cut off the plastic baffle using a multi-tool as previously mentioned by @WaitingOnMyR1T . Swap the Gasket #12196-38010 from the old Tacoma Oil Cap Filler Housing to the new Oil Cap Filler Housing:

    Time for a CBI battery tray, a Northstar Group 31 Battery, and a KDMax 6.0 Wifeytip tune with the AGM Voltage Boost by @PapaRee . There's a good "battery upgrade" write-up on Trail Tacoma over at

    How did you remove that "piece of shit" off the valve cover?
    Mine's leaking and dripping oil all over the place but it's still holding on to the valve cover .. Do I heat it up and try to crack it open?

    This is what mine looks like...no studs but screws. Looks like the shorty filler neck will work. I email Offgrid Engineering if I can buy components to make it go to a dual with one on the passenger side, don't have hope they will get back to me as I emailed them a month ago about ordering just a spare blue sea and they never got to me. I tried calling but goes straight to voicemail with full mall box.
