What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Ha, thank you. I filmed the bumper install on Friday night finished up on Saturday morning, then jumped into the hammer hangers right after. I'm editing the bumper install for this this weekend and then the hangers install for next week. For the rivets I used a combo of a cutting disc then a flapper disc, then an air hammer. I cut the heads off the rivets first, then flap disc flat to the stock hanger. Then I punched the lower rivets out with the air hammer. I clamped the frame support/cross member down to the frame so the air hammer would focus on the rivet only. I should mention that cut the upper rivet head off the lower rivets too. At that point you can beat the stock hanger off with a couple of hammer hits and some pry bars. Then flap disc the upper rivets down to the frame and air hammer them, they came right off with no drilling. Saved a ton of time. I would say start to finish was right around 5 hours, the passenger side I did first went slower as I learned some tips for the driver side. Good luck, there is no way around it. It's going to be a long, dirty day. I did have one stock shackle bolt that I had to cut, so that added some time.

I also got my Liftd gas cap holder in over the weekend. They best part is, it actually works!

 

Reinstalled factory grille due to sensor error while running aftermarket TRD Pro grille. Will probably order black grille surround to replace chrome.

Where are you located and how much?

 

Swapped out the stock tires for some Falken Wildpeak A/T3Ws in 265/75/16. Riding on stock suspension except for an AAL in the rear. I’m very pleased with them so far after a ~500 mile road trip on the highway and interstate.

Replaced the Entune 3.0 HU with NAV the other day.
DMH-W4660NEX and iDataLink. The Bluetooth mic and wireless Apple CarPlay works really well. I am waiting for the oem mic adapter to become available…

Did you pre-solder the connections? The lump in the middle is the actual solder and should be melted to make the connection.

I would order up a 2020+ sport/off road grille. Shouldn’t be any tss errors going with that grille.

 

If you already know this then stop reading… you can change that stupid background color if you CarPlay when your phone is plugged in, it’s in the settings icon. It sounds trite, but I randomly did this and it’s so nice to have a solid black background behind the icon instead of that display of triangles.

Yes I did. the picture was before I melted the solder and the rubber seals.

 

Bronze wheels complete the look more than the silver imho.

 

Got the gowesty rotopax water spout installed. Seems pretty solid. It will be nice to have easy access to at least some of my water storage.
