Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
What I would do would be to talk to the people at Crutchfield explain just what you want to do they will fix you right up.

If the Tech will work in your Truck

As for installing it is just a matter of going to a double din receiver building the adapter harness to plug into the truck harness

Another vote for crutchfield. You are looking for a double din Carplay/Andoid auto head unit and the associated wiring harness.

Install should be easy with the direction Crutchfield includes if you are even a little mechanically inclined.

I gave up on this many years ago when Bluetooth was in its infancy. What I did learn is that there are many protocols with Bluetooth, HFC (Hands free calling), PBT (phone book transfer) and many others. I also discovered that not all protocols are available in every phone or the exact same phone that is offered by different carriers. I, like you, could not get a straight answer as to what works with what and I gave up in frustration. FF some 10 years and now we have GPS and Bluetooth-GPS to confuse the issue even more. You might not be able to pick and choose which bit of technology you can use when. When in other vehicles that have built in GPS I usually have to mute my phone to avoid 2 women telling me what to do. I did discover one thing though... certain GPS's are faster updating than others as there were times where it would tell me to take an exit after I passed the exit, I call these 30 mph GPS's because driving anything faster than 30 mph they were worthless.

This is probably more of a question for the audio/visual sub-forum.

Beyond getting a single or double DIN aftermarket radio that physically fits in your truck, there isn't anything that's 1st gen specific.

But I'll add another vote for Crutchfield. I haven't bought from them in a few years, but they've always been really helpful and the installation kits you get from them make it super easy to install.

For <$200, I've been very happy with one of the Chinese Android head units (search Amazon for "Android head unit," there's no shortage of offerings). The hands free bluetooth (with external mic.) and GPS work very well. I added a backup camera and OBD reader that allows me to monitor sensors and computes MPG on the fly. In addition, I use my phone as a hotspot and that opens up access to SiriusXM, Waze, etc.

I think the best way for you to go is apple car play. With that, you would plug in your phone, access google maps for your gps, and be able talk through your system all at the same time. Like everyone else said, crutchfield will be the best way to go. Just check the CarPlay box to see the different options in price.
