These are the best think walled impact sockets I have used. These Grey Pneumatic sockets have held up incredibly well for me. Using them with the Milwaukee M18 650fl-lb 3/8 impact for years with no issues. I don't recommend them for professional use, day in - day out, buy no issues maintaining three of my own vechicles.

Excellent resource thread! This helped me decide on which impact socket set to buy in preparation for some new tool purchases this Memorial Day!

Ended up getting the Sunex 3342 Set (3/8" Drive, 42-Piece SAE/Metric). This will pair nicely with the DeWALT DCF923 and DCF513. Because the kit only goes up to 19mm, I also purchased individual impact sockets in 21mm deep, 22mm shallow, and 24mm shallow. Will purchase the 30mm and 35mm down the line if I ever need them.

Given unlimited budget, I would have gone with the TEKTON SID91404 Set (3/8" Drive, 72-Piece SAE/Metric).

    Great thread!
After getting by with trying to use the same cheap tools over and over again, I can easily say that having a few really nice tools that I use a lot makes wrenching a dream. New or used, klein 10n1 screwdriver, klein wire stripper, used Mac 10" 3/8 ratchet.
Is your birthday coming up? How bout a nice new tool instead of another pair so socks!?!

If you looking to what you might need to do in the field repairs do plan well beyond tools. Maybe start with jumper cables, insulated wire, wire or coat hangers, duct tape, extra bolts, washers and nuts, tire repair kit etc.

Browsing tools, considering replacing some sockets to SK tools brand. A sad day for me, they got bought by Hangzhou GreatStar Industrial Co.

Luckily I already have full sets of sk wrenches, their quality beats every other brand I've ever seen like snapon and matco.

    great list, very much helps

would be great to do a secondary list specific to spare parts/fluids for a 3 day to 2 week remote camping/overlanding complete with part #'s, etc working under the assumption you have the tools/knowledge and setup to do the trail repair

off the top of my head,

    Haynes/Chilton Manual
Full size spare & tools to remove it

    X6 spark plugs
    DS/PS wiper blades
    Lug nuts
    fuses
    serpentine belt
    upper/lower radiator hoses
    cv axle
    tie rod/tie rod ends
    sway bar end links
    front brake hardware kit
    fuel line
    air filter
    cabin filter
    oil/oil filter
    spare bulbs
    gear oil
    coolant
    PS fluid
    brake fluid

line would have to be drawn somewhere, like you probably dont need spare driveshafts, rotors, pads, etc

To resurrect a thread, I just put in a clutch on my 09 Access cab and the bolts are 14mm lower, and 17mm upper. I'm not going to take the time to read through all 15 threads to find out if someone said this, so I'm adding. I may be wrong about the upper and lower diameters but they are DEFINITELY 14MM AND 17MM. I know because my friend who helped me was irritated about due to him being an old mopar guy.

Would anyone know the part # of a lock lugnut socket for a 2015 Tacoma?

If you mean a lug nut lock key, are there locking lug nuts that are OEM parts? I assume not, and if they’re not then the key won’t have a Toyota PN.

Copy that. I lost the ‘key’ lock socket. I’ll just have the dealer remove them and replace with lug nuts next time there.

Do you mean the lugs with an exterior star pattern that the socket fits over? Or do you mean lugs with a twist to unlock key? If the former, post up a photo and someone ought to be able to find you a replacement socket.

No but thank you. It’s the ‘key’ for the lock lug. After contacting the dealer, they have 6 different keys. They said there’s no way to confirm which one I need without them having the lock lug.

You can probably find a YT video on hammering an old socket over those locking lugs to forcibly remove them. :anonymous:

Then perhaps they can be loosened with a vise grip wrench and a rubber mallet, but I think if the dealer tries the ones they have they have a good chance of matching up.

Yes, I’ve watched a few of those videos. Definitely a LAST resort.
Honestly, I’ve never been a fan of lock lugs for this very reason.

I've got the spline lugs on my truck, and car. I've bought several extra spline sockets so I don't have to go far if I loose one.
