    Nothing. Just got it.
    Howdy folks,

Just recently picked up suspension take offs used. I got the 2022 TRD Pro red UCA's, front and rear shocks, and leaf springs, all for a killer deal! I'm planning on installing them on my 2006 access cab sr5 soon. Although before I do....

I was wondering, has anyone with a 2022 TRD Pro done an add a leaf like the Icon or Toytec 1.5" in the rear? Looking for a bit more of a heavy duty setup and want to make sure the shocks can handle the extra 1.5 inches of lift if I remove the small stock spacer that goes under the leafs. If I removed the spacer would the add a leafs get me to the same ride height in the rear? Lots of questions and thinking

I plan on balancing this out with maybe a small spacer in the front. Cheers

    Thanks in advance :)

They can handle the extra 1.5" with no issues.

I would skip the toytec add a leaf and either get the 3 leaf icon or the 3 leaf wheelers. If you don't have any weight in the back then you will get about 1.5" with the overload leaf removed and closer to 2" with the overload leaf left in btw. Personally I would leave the overload in. These shocks can handle the 2" increase front and back. The only ill effect is that you will loose some down travel in the shocks by going 1.5-2"

Keep in mind the 2nd gen tacoma is 1" lower from the factory compared to 2.5 gen and 3rd gen. So increasing 1.5-2" is no big deal at all.

I'm not sure if you have already done this setup yet.

The 2022 TRD Pro is already 1.5" higher in the front than a 3rd gen TRD OR. Since the 3rd Gen TRD OR suspension raises the front of a 2nd gen 1.25-1.5", it's plausible to assume the 2022 TRD Pro suspension will likely make your 2nd gen sit about 2.5-3" higher than stock. Also, the 2022 TRD Pro sits .5" higher in the rear. I'm not sure if it's due to the leaf spring itself being different or a small leaf spring spacer? My guess is that you'll end up sitting slightly nose high once it's all settled. I don't think you'll want to add any more lift to the front either because 3" of front lift is getting close to the max for your CV's depending on how much droop these shocks provide.

I'm not sure who you got that from, but that's a killer setup! I am really curious as to why the owner got rid of the UCA's, they seem like they'll be able to handle pretty much any lift or abuse most Tacoma's will see. If he put SPC's on, I don't think I would consider that an upgrade at all.

Cool to hear! I thought the fronts were only 1.5” or so, but I’ll take some measurements once all the parts are on. I won’t be adding any more than that. I don’t really want to go over 2.5 inches.

The lift in the rear is due to a small spacer, which I may or may not ditch when doing the add a leaf.

And yah I got a good deal! He said he needed the SPC ucas as he was going more than 3” of lift.

No problem!! I started the 3rd gen suspension on 2nd gen's thread and most double cabs get about 1" and access cabs are about 1.25" just by adding the 3rd gen TRD OR suspension. Thays why I think you'll end up around the 2.5" lift. Check out the thread too, could help with any questions you may have during install. Also, it would be awesome if you could post before/after pictures and thoughts on the ride to that thread!! It's a great resource and I'm sure there are plenty of people curious how it would look and ride!!!!

I am literally about to do this same setup on my 2014 TRD OR. I already have a wheelers AAL in the back, so I'm hoping I'll net about 2" of lift all around. Also hoping my Leer 100XR canopy doesn't sag out the back too much.

I'm definitely interested to see where your lift measurements land, especially since I've read 2nd gen owners getting anywhere from 1" to 2-1/2" all around when installing 3rd Gen Pro Shocks.

The reason there is a difference in how much a 3rd gen TRD Pro suspension will lift a 2nd gen is because the 2016-2021 TRD Pro didn't have much more lift than the other trim levels of of the 3rd gens. However, the 2022+ TRD is lifted 1.5" from the previous ones.

    In other words
-2016-2021 TRD Pro, 2016+ TRD Sport, 2016+ TRD Off Road = 1"-1.25" front lift on ALL 2nd gen V6/4wd wheel bases, 1.5"-1.75" on 2nd gen 4cyl/4wd wheel bases.
-2022+ TRD Pro = UNKOWN...kinda. Just based off previous knowledge, I would assume the 22 Pro suspension will add AT LEAST 1" to each number above, probably closer to 1.5" more in reality. Guess we'll find out!!!

2016-2021 Pro trucks sit a bit higher than the TRD OR/Sport trucks though, appx 1 to 1.5” from what I’ve seen with my buddies 2019 Pro when compared to my old 2019 TRD OR. Are you suggesting the 2022 Pros sit higher than the 2016-2021’s?

My set came off of a 2020 Pro so I’m hoping they’ll put me at the same height as my 5100’s on the 3rd perch or somewhere around there.

Crap, my bad! I'll have to edit my previous posts to include that. The 2016-2021 Pro was about 1" higher than the trim levels, so probably close to 1.5"-1.75" of lift on a 2nd gen. I know one member installed it but I don't think he got back with measurements (link below). But I still think the 2022 TRD Pro suspension should be about 2"-2.5" in the front at least.

No worries, I didn’t think you had your info off. Just trying to confirm what I should expect here. Thought maybe you knew something I didn’t.

Seems like there’s a bit of variation with how the shocks settle, just like any suspension setup. We’ll all know for sure after I install my shocks lol

Absolutely! I'm a bit on the heavy side and I have an AGM battery, so mine had a little lean on the 3rd gen setup. I wished Toyota wouldn't have put the Battery and the Gas Tank on the the drivers side. At least the gas tank for christ sake! I don't know how engineers thought that would be a good idea. "Hey guys, lets put all the heavy stuff on the drivers side where the fat a$$ American sits and not put any ballast on the other side. Yah. that makes a lot of sense!" That's how I imagine it going down in the design meetings. haha

After comparing my buddies 2019 TRD Pro to my old 2019 TRD OR, it looked like he was a hair over 1" taller than my TRD OR. Common consensus agrees 3rd Gen shocks are about 1" taller on a 2nd gen, so I'm expecting 2" on my 2014 TRD OR, maybe a little less. I'll let everyone know next where my truck ends up w/ the 3rd Gen Pro shocks after I install them next weekend

    For reference - here's a guy who got 1-1/2" F & 2" R with Fox Pro shocks on his 2009 https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2020-trd-fox-shocks.755172/

I'll keep everyone updated with how it goes. I'll take measurements before and after, and snap some pictures. Just trying to decide if I want to fork out the extra cash for a pair of heavy duty leaf springs instead of the add a leaf setup. Probably will do u bolt flip kit as well. Just need to find some time for the install! Hoping everything goes smoothly.

Sorry no updates yet. Haven’t had time. Interested to see your setup though. What truck are you putting them on again?

$1700 Canadian for everything. He only wanted $1500 for the ucas and shocks. I grabbed the leafs for an extra $200, which I kind of regret. Hoping someone will just take them from me for cheap. Not a bad deal!
