Hey everyone. Was wondering if anyone had some tips for making the black trim around the windows look like they used to. Any chemicals they've had success with? Or if it requires a certain paint.. or other thing done to it

Not a permanent fix, but try armorall. I used to have a hard top Jeep with scratches and fading all over the black top. I would wipe it down and it looked brand new. Lasted through 4-5 hard rains. Try the wipes, Cheap and easy.

tire/rubber cleaner followed by wiping clean with Isopropyl Alcohol, then applying a trim coating like carpro dlux, Ammo frame pro, or cerakote's trim coating. after that, use something like 303 or amsoil mudslinger on a regular basis to prevent fading/oxidation.

I would try a 303 cleaner, then apply their sealer for rubber trim with a pad. Taking the trim out may require removing trim and glass.

I have tried everything mentioned on the back window trim with no success. The only thing that worked for me was wet sanding with a 2k or 3k wet sandpaper. It was the only thing to get rid of the crud buildup. Then the protectants make it look like new. Just make sure to mask off around the trim so you don't sand your clear coat.

Nice. That about settles it then! Thanks everyone, and I will try to update this thread with some pics after I give one of these methods a go

The rear window consists of having a single thick, rubber seal/gasket.

Window trim is different from what's on the rear window.

They make cerakote wipes that work very well.

Yeah I think I paid $30 a pop for mine from the dealer, took like 10 minutes to replace.
FWIW OP if you look em up on any Toyota parts site, just use "weatherstrip," for your search, they'll pop up.

My old ones are 22 years old so, beyond worn. I might put that on after about six months of wear with the replacement parts. Thanks for the info!

It's not a bad idea to replace these and make sure everything is sealed up. After a few winters with a really leaky one I've said goodbye to my door
