I want to buy a supercharger for my 1997 SR5 4wd and was wondering what the differences were between the two; is Magnuson the company that made the TRD 2nd gen? Can anyone sell me one or provide a purchase link?

    Thank you

Magnuson made them for Trd and still makes them without the logo now. Buy new from Urd or Lce.
You'll probably want the 7th injector kit from Urd too.

I would wait for the updated magnuson 5vz charger if you're buying new. With the current production charger, you can not upgrade the pulley, the pulley is pressed on.

Another option, wait for folks to buy the updated version and buy their used charger, lol.

Getting it off is not the problem, finding a smaller replacement pulley is.

    Yup,
    BIG NEWS!!
the new TVS1320 supercharger is coming this summer to replace the current model.
The current model is being replaced because the casting and molding equipment is worn out.
So there will be no more p62 superchargers soon.
A new updated supercharger will be coming out in the summer from magnuson for the 3.4.
New email last week I got from magnuson,

“said everything is on schedule still for the release this summer.”
Features an improved inlet for less pressure drop pre supercharger,
Positive displacement roots design with integrated vacuum bypass for reduced belt slipping,
Larger supercharger spins more slowly at the same power level,
Full bolt on installation with OEM fit and finish, no calibration required with stock pulley
supercharger will be the TVS1320 which is 1320 cc per revolution compared to the current 1000 cc per revolution.
Tvs1320 will have 4 rotor lobes, current supercharger has 3 lobes.
The TVS1320 rotor twist is 160 degrees compared to the current 60 degrees twist.
The TVS1320 rotors will be 30 percent larger.
“The TVS 1320 is very Efficient creating less heat and will use less power to spin the supercharger.
“The TVS1320 will have an EGR port close to the same location as the current supercharger.”
“The TVS1320 will be slowed way down in rpm’s” because it will be pushing much more air, I’m guessing a much bigger pulley that will make much less heat.
“The TVS1320 will have the option to change out for different pulley sizes” , “But warranty is voided if you change the pulley”, this is the same stipulation on the current supercharger.
“The TVS1320 will be setup to match the old superchargers power output spec’s”, boost, probably so as to keep the supercharger in the same carb and emissions window that way the new supercharger will not have to be retested as strictly on each year truck and application and the various emissions ropes that need to be jumped through.
The TVS1320 is a much more durable, efficient and stronger supercharger with stronger rated bearings and will run longer before needing a rebuild than the current model.
The Eaton website shows the TVS1320 bearings are rated at 20krpms,
The current supercharger is rated around 12k-15k rpm’s I believe.
“Oil snout replacement is being said to be at 100k.”
Email ends says updates to follow stay tuned!
Betting this will be a 300hp+325hp supercharger with some mods easily at 10 pounds of boost guessing and plenty more boost available if one wants
This supercharger is in the design stage and final product maybe be different.
I have received 2 email updates on this supercharger.
So no idea of price yet, guessing high 4k ish? Maybe more 5k, it will not have an intercooler.
For those that decide to upgrade that have one if you sell your used supercharger thats working 2500-3000 the upgrade will not be so bad.
Some basic info on the TVS1320 design and development below from Eaton superchargers,
These are modified to each application each automotive company to fit their vehicles.
The TVS1320 is used in a lot of different applications and a lot of different Automobile companies
Including the 4.0L 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Jeep 3.6L, Chevy Cobalt SS, LSJ, Lotus Rev 300, Ford,Jaguar, Land Rover, etc,
    https://www.eaton.com/us/en-us/catalog/engine-solutions/tvs-r1320.html

    Similar supercharger below

    https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a15119133/prime-cuts-eaton-tvs-r1320-supercharger-feature/

The Twin Vortices Series (TVS) is the 6th generation of Eaton Roots type supercharger. It features four lobes per rotor and specially designed inlet and outlet ports. TVS reaches pressure ratios as high as 2.5 with maximum thermodynamic efficiency no less than 75%. The Eaton TVS rotor group, is the same supercharger technology used in factory-supercharged GM, Audi, Jaguar, and Ford vehicles, and is the only supercharger technology that stands up to OEM durability and reliability tests

guess i'd better get serious about saving up for one of these then...$4k+ is no joke, would love to have one (or find a used one once someone else upgrades!)

It’s a hard call to be in your shoes,
You can find a used one (still very expensive 1500-2500-3000) for used) but you don’t know it’s condition or how much longer it will go till it needs a rebuild and that rebuild can be 1000 to 2000 depending on what’s needed.
My last rebuild was 2100.00 from Jon bond, so you could end up at 4500 if you needed a rebuild 6 months later and rebuild wait times are 3-6 months depending
Depending on the price of the new supercharger I might be upgrading just because the rebuild cost are getting out of control.
The new supercharger looks to have huge advantages over the current supercharger.
The new supercharger will run 200k or more I’ve heard before needing a rebuild instead of 100k.

What are you guys doing in the tuning department and what are you doing in terms of smog if applicable? Unfortunately my county in TX requires it.

Will be the same requirement needed as the current supercharger with the stock pulley.
If you get a smaller pulley you will be able to make much more boost then the current supercharger but you will need 7th injector or haltech to get the most but will be limited to the amount of boost the engine can handle.
With The old superchargers it can’t make enough boost to hurt the motor,
This new supercharger it probably will be able to make too much boost for the stock motor if you wanted it to. I’m guessing
It will have an EGR valve they told me so a 7th injector will work as it uses the EGR input.
If you want the best possible tune it’s a haltech stand alone
