Well, today marks the day that I became a member.

I have used tacoma world for answering my various questions and sparking various ideas (even before I owned a Tacoma) and today I finally caved and became a member. So here is a brief story about my Toyota experience.

My family has owned many many Toyotas over the years, from an old Camry, to 80 series Land Cruiser, to a newer LX470, and my mom now drives a highlander. The car that came before my tacoma for me, however, was a VW GTI. It was fun for a year, but Minnesota winters weren't my friend and I really wanted to build an overland truck. I had always loved Tacomas and to be fully honest only liked the 2nd gens.

In April of last year, through hours upon hours of FB Marketplace scoping, I came across what is now my small but mighty truck.

It was (and still is) a Lust Lunar Grey (why do they need a fancy name for silver) 2004 SR5 TRD extra-cab with a 5spd manual and I swooped it up with 142k miles.

Time has gone by and I have added many lights, taught my self how to weld and made myself a roof rack, welded on a new Magnaflow muffler, added a snorkel (I used to be way too confident in water crossings), as well as built out a bed platform under the shelter of the topper.

I've been on many off-road outings with my friends, camping trips, drives to school and back, and it still runs like the day I got it. If all goes as planned, the truck will stay with me until it blows up.

As leaving for college next fall, my time and money for modifications in the near future are quite limited. However my most pressing modifications will include tiding up my wiring situation, and building a more permanent bed/drawer system. Hoping to beef up the suspension and tires summer of '24 after lots and lots of saving up. Tires and suspension are low on the priority list however since the 235/85/R16 BF Goodrich AT tires that came with the truck are still in prime condition. Just maybe a tad too pizza-cutter for my liking...

Anyways, there's the not so brief story of my experience with Toyotas in my life as well as a few plans for my rig and the experience with that. I come to tacomaworld for all my issues. Except maybe not with my relationship issues. Is there a forum here for that too???

    Yes Sir, it’s true.
    We got all the answers.

If there’s one thing you’ll learn on TW , it’s that we’re good at making things up.
If we don’t have the answer, we’ll make the answer.

It might not be the answer you want, it might not even be the answer to your question, but will definitely give you an answer.
