Totally agree. Seems like a no-brainer, but...

Tailgate Lock and Bed Lights should be standard...well, maybe not the Bed Lights...lol!

And that Bed Mat too...should be standard! Again, I'm kidding.

I bought/installed the Tailgate Lock & Bed Lights. Part of my early upgrades in 2021.

You will come to understand Toyota is cheapening everything up, reducing costs. My 2021 certainly did not come with the tail gate lock. Thankfully I added it, only mod that I use more often are the hood struts. Every time the hood opens, I am thankful.

I built a dog platform for the back area similar to the picture in post #1 of this link. My dog loves riding on it and it is great for Costco runs.

Hood struts are also on my "to do" list. Which ones did you go with?

Cool. The Spiker and Redline hood struts are the one's I have on my "to do" (aka "wish") list.

EDIT: They seem fairly equal and equally liked on the forum, so I just ordered the Spikers!

I have Redline on my 1st gen and they have been great. But the Spyker are two stage and slow down at the top of the stroke.

Can't wait. I get in there a surprising number of times for whatever reason. Tired of lifting, propping and repeating. Although I will miss the workout. :muscleflexing: :rofl:Sweet ride BTW!

I would order the Spikers, but do not open the hood much and am annoyed at the thought of buying a rivet gun for the sole purpose of installing hood supports. That does sound petty, buy I also yell at kids to get off my lawn. :p

Happen to have an inexpensive rivet gun from another project. I have SO many tools and what-not that I buy for a specific task and then they just collect dust. This will be the second time I've used it in a couple of years... so whatever I spent on it to avoid having someone else do it will have been *totally* justified. ;) I'll sell it to you cheap when I'm done. :D

Rivet gun is one of those things that isn't used often but it's a nice thing to have around when needed.

True dat. Thing is... if I get rid of it - or get rid of any tool, part or "useless" thing in the garage - I will absolutely need it the very next day.

Agreed. I've had my rivet gun for about 30 years. It's actually made in the USA. :oldglory:

Once the honeymoon phase wore off, I could hardly stand driving my truck into the mountains here in CO. Constantly shifting, hard shifts, couldn't maintain speed, etc. on I-70. If tuning capabilities hadn't come along, I definitely would have traded in my 2018 DCLB OR by now. I've tried a few different ones, and finally landed on OTT (Overland Tailor Torque tune). Easily my favorite "mod". It's one of the few mods out there that'll help the truck drive better instead of worse.
