    guys, i am a new member of taco land. bought the truck a week ago and changed the oil and filter today. question is, what i the trick to changing the filter? i was thinking the lip on the base was cool, until it filled up with oil and started running over. i am sure there is a trick i am not aware of yet to prevent this mess.anyone have any ideas?:)

    Unscrew slower and make sure you take the cap off the bottom and put a bottle or catch basin under the filter lip.

    what brunes said.

    there is a small "nipple" on the underside of the oil filter catcher that you need to remove, place some sort of coke bottle or somethin under it, and then slowly unscrew the filter untill it all drains into your coke bottle

    this is the oil catcher taken out of the truck. the nipple is the little barb on the underside circled in red

    Take the cap off the drain nipple and attach some hose with a hose clamp. Run it down through the hole in the skid plate...mine is permanently attached and capped off on the end when not in use.
