How to: Chevy 63" Leaf Spring Swap

Do you have a good amount of weight? I have my 3 leaf setup ready to rock and roll and thoughtd it be a good match. I only run a full spare, have sliders and bumper delete.

Also, where did you get the extra leaf from? I may want to look into it just in case...

 

not alot of weight no. full size spare and a bumper. another thing that bothered me with running 3 leafs was the body roll. it was very soft on the road lol.

i ended up pulling a leaf put of a stock tacoma pack and cut some length off of it

 

What's your opinion on running 63s vs OE leaf length with hammer hangers for 14" shock relocation?

 

Id say do it if you can do the labor yourself, otherwise both setups work the same.
With 63s though, you dont have a low hanging, frame mounted shackle hanger to hit or snag on, and you just have a smooth leaf spring to drop the rear end onto.

 

Hey guys I have leaf springs from a 1999-2007 gm. The bolts provided by ruff stuff for the front bushing is definitely a few mm smaller than the front bushing eyelet. Will the

It isn't the worst use of a 92 Accord.

 

Anybody have experience with leaf spring sliders in comparison to shackles? Its seems like a good way to keep a lower ride height with 63's but the con is wear(I dont think this would be a huge deal)

sorry to dig this old thread up. What makes the 63s so capable of flex over the stock Tacoma leaf springs? And is there any other way to get more flex?

 

They are longer, so you can get more travel out of them. With stock length leafs you usually have to go spring under (which I do believe is longer when you take into account the length of the arch) to get similar travel. The longer the pivot you get more travel essentially, similiar to long arms on a linked suspension or long travel on the front ends of our trucks.

Believe this is the reasoning based on my understanding. I’m sure someone will chime in though and learn us both if I am on the wrong track here.

 

Did you guys all do carrier bearing drop or is that not needed? Just installed a new 3+1 overload pack.

Every truck is different. If you don't have drive line vibration that you suspect is coming from angles, I would not throw one on to solve a problem that doesnt exist.
