I’m curious how other bumpers attach. If you are feeling froggy, and up to it, could you snap pics of the brackets that attach the bumper to the frame before installation, and the brackets bolted to the frame once it’s installed?

I ordered the Buckstop bumper mid summer. It arrived sooner than expected. I took it to RSG today and they told me that how it is attached is not offroad recommended, ie it does not bolt to the frame. RSG told me that it would not be ok for recovery. That is kind of BS of Buckstop. Between the time I ordered the bumper and received it, Buckstop has pulled it off of their site. Not sure if they have plans to design a new one, but I am pretty disappointed in hearing that how it mounts is fairly suspect. I don't wheel hard enough to be overly worried about recovery (more getting to campsites that Subies can't). I am going to keep it as its probably more of a PITA at this point to return if I even can return it.

Since the previous page is out of date, I did some research (I probably missed something) and came up with the following list of bumpers that support BSM and back up sensors.

Does anyone actually have a steel bumper that supports BSM that actually works? I have one that is no longer available that supports BSM but it doesn't work. Neither Toyota nor the installer could get it to work once the truck moved.

I have a Rago bumper, however the BSM does not work. The angle of the sensor is only 30 degrees and unless I'm mistaken it needs to be around 50. When I first installed the bumper the BSM would pick up every fence post or mailbox I passed. After a few weeks of this glitchy behavior it completely stopped working and displays the BSM unavailable message. I scanned the ADAS with my scan tool and confirmed the horizontal beam axis misaligned fault and the live data showed the yaw angle of the sensors was only 29.6 degrees. I may try to modify the angle of the sensor and recalibrate, but I hate to cut into the bumper and have to redo the powder coat.

How is the build quality? How was the installation? Can you really use the recovery points, like do they tie into the frame? That bumper looks nice and I need a step! Thanks!!
