Run it, shread it, change oil. Its just a soft tube. On a open diff this shouldnt be a problem. I personally would pull the 3rd.

Edit: trd offroad. dont know how i would feel about the elocker getting shit it in

If I had the weekend free I would do it myself, instead a mobile mechanic is popping over at 10.

Between the two of us the diff should be open and closed in 2-3 hours, and I don't mind paying 45$/Hr for someone to walk me through my first 3rd member removal.

Just caught this thread. Good luck man! Maybe take some pictures of the job if the mechanic will let you...might be helpful on here for someone at a later time. Just a thought...

I agree with many of you that it is not a "hard job" to pull the third, but you may be asking a lot of a person who uses a syringe to fill the diff

Alright, so the mechanic and I managed to get the diff ripped off in about 60 minutes, took out the piece of tube, and back together in 40 minutes.

All together, cost me $90 labour, and $30 parts (new diff fluid, gasket sealant)

All said and done, even WITH this ordeal, it still cost me $200-300 less than going to the dealer for my 60K mile maintenance

Also, here is a picture of the elusive tube:
