26 miles on it and need info

I have a variety of things to ask, but we'll start with the one that I need to know first...

I just bought the Truck and traded in a vehicle that had a few things I'm gonna miss. This 2014 Tacoma Access cab has the Touch Screen radio (not the most fancy one, but the basic one with bluetooth and phone stuff).

Anyway, the thing most missed already is the Steering wheel mounted radio controls. I wouldn't have thought I'd be trying to turn the volume up and down all the time with a blank panel, but there I am... pushing a piece of plastic with no success.

Has anyone added the Steering wheel mounted controls into one that doesn't have them already? Again, this truck has a decent radio that (I think ) should be compatible with them. Anyone know what all it takes to make it so? I know the truck already has the wiring for the rear camera in the Tail gate, so that should be possible too. Just don't know what I'm up against.

Any input/info would be highly appreciated. Also if anyone knows a source of parts that would work without paying insane money (dealership usually kills me out here... Gulf States Toyota kinda behind the rest of the distributors usually too).

I had an issue with mine not too long ago. There was a thread that I made about it and I can't find where it is. It was a couple of weeks just after I did iPhone Ios7 update(I have an iPhone 4s). It didn't matter if I turned the vehicle off or not. None of the controls on the steering wheel or the screen would work. It was a night after or that it happened and I got into the truck and everything worked fine. There are some people that have had issues with steering wheel controls, but very people here did.

 

Well, what I have is the base model truck, with no actual steering wheel mounted controls of any kind. Power locks, power windows... Nice little truck with what I'll call Washable floor, with Carpeted floor mats... Plain wipers (no intermittent stuff)... but they didn't have a truck without the touch screen radio. The knobs are so small I think it would be beneficial for me to have the Steering wheel mounted controls. Knobs suck as they're also smooth and hard to turn with my big ol' fingers (dry, cracked, work fingers).
