Few questions on a double din

Hey so im here to tap into the knowledge of TW. So I have decided im going to get a double din for my truck to start with, I have pretty much decided on the Kenwood DNX5140 it has all the stuff i want and am not looking for bluetooth so my questions are...

1) is this a decent deck or would you reccomend something else
2) What wireing harness do i need?
3) How do i get the steering wheel controlls to work with this deck
4) i assume i just need a standard sirius vehical kit and plug it into the deck to move that over too ?

go to crutchfield.com and it should tell u all those questions... wiring harness would be a kenwood, PAC makes steering wheel control u need the SWI JACK and have not a clue about the sirius hook up but it will prolly have to be one that works for ur HU specifically

1. Yes, it is a good deck. Many folks here have that deck, and I haven't seen any major negative feedback on it. I have my own personal thoughts on decks, but if this one has the features you want at a good price point, then go for it.

2. The wiring harness will be a Kenwood to Tacoma harness, should be available though any place that you order the deck. Crutchfield is a good source, especially for the first install, because they include all the installation accessories that you will need, as well as top notch customer service (they'll even talk you through the installation if you need it).

3. As mentioned above, the PAC SWI-Jack is what you'll need. I have the PAC control for my Pioneer deck, and haven't installed it yet. Had it for a year and just never got around to doing it, so I can't comment on personal experiance. But, there has been some mostly good feedback from people on here that have used the PAC controls.

4. Ther sirius vehicle kit is found easiest via crutchfield. Again, great customer service. But, you will be paying more to order from them, than someplace like sonicelectronics. There is a reason for it, and it is the customer service.

So if i got this headunit and eventually new speakers i would be doing all right. Would i need to replace the speaker wires to or is that not absolutly necessary

 

Not necessary, but, it can make things easier to wire.
