Wow, they don't believe me that they are the wrong size. They had 2 in stock and ordered another one from their supplier. They can't fathom how all 3 could be the wrong size.
I am pretty sure that they order by part number, not by exact size. If they gave them the same part number of course all 3 are going to be wrong. I verified all the fittings threads at Lowes on their thread gauge and bought a new nut and bolt to double check with new threads.

I'd almost be better off, but I'd have to buy even more parts to make it work. The outlet runs through the handle and the tube doesn't have enough material to drill..

What about removing the handle and going straight onto the head?

I could do that or probably turn the head 90*

I bet if you removed that handle, you would be able to bolt up with no issue.

Same thing with the 2871.What kind of threads are on that fitting ? I grabbed a pipe tee and it doesn't work.So I will need an adapter of some sort I am guessing.I popped the cap off today and found when they installed the cap with the wires they pinched one of the two wires at the on/off switch.Still was connected but was severely pinched and some of the strands were broken and exposed.I cut it,stripped it and wire nutted it.Good as new.Still need a tee fitting off the handle to tap the two wire pressure switch I have.

In telling you guys. Take off the handle and check that way. I believe all the heads are threaded to 3/8

I wanted to tap in at the end of the handle because the switch I have has wires on it and I wouldn't need to extend the wiring to make it work.Does china have its own threads now for pipe fittings ? :D

I have the next compressor model up, the 2781 and the cfm is not enough to keep up with the unloader valve at higher pressures. I believe I got the second smallest version of the genie, after trying the 3rd, eventually I will need to go to the smallest or just go the check valve route. Smittybilt says mine puts out 5.65cfm and yours is 2.54cfm so I dont think yours will handle even the smallest unloader after 80psi.

I also ended up having problems coming up with the correct threaded pieces to fit the compressor and ended up using the barb that was coming off the handle and just used my own hose at that point. Here are some pictures to show off my setup

I'll update when I get everything in and hooked up. I will be putting together a kit when I get everything verified.

Looks like you did some work to that (modified the head). Got any info on it?

The filter system on the 2781 is just foam in a plastic cup. In addition to that I have a longbed and mounted it in front of the rear tire so serviceability of the filter would be an issue. Rather than try to cut threads into a cheap chinese casting I decided to machine a tube to fit into the intake port, welded a small plate to it and screwed it down to the holes that held the plastic in place. I then took a servicable air filter i got from mcmaster-carr and mounted that into the cubby Then i took a simple piece of hose and connected the compressor to the filter.

Overall I am happy with this compressor. It puts out a TON of air at the lower pressures, but tapers off quickly above 70-80 psi ish, though it will go to 150. It takes about 2 minutes to air up each tire which actually seems to compete with everyone i wheel with running co2, and thats without me having a tank yet.

As for your psi switch, Me personally I would return it. That thing is HUGE. The one i have is tiny, and just works like a simple inline switch, which i use to control the relay which powers the compressor.

If you look at the last picture, you'll see a nutsert just above the cubby. Those are the bolts that hold the bed rail on. Start there. There are some more hints in this thread.

Is the internet the only place to buy this Loctite 545 thread sealant? I've checked Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, Advance, Autozone, Napa, O'Reilly, car quest..

I was going to go right into the head with a steel braided line but one of those allen screws are stripped on the compressor head side.I will have to cut that chrome handle bracket if I want to access it.If I hard mount it it shouldn't matter. Was gonna go steel braided to 5 gallon tank ,box mounted in my bed with quick disconnects for air and power anyway.

Got a 5 gallon tank, check valve, pressure switch, air hose and some fittings.I'm still thinking a box mount with quick disconnects in the bed.If I need the bed space just disconnect the wires and remove the box.I need a box that will fit snug between my wheel wells inside the bed to mount the tank and compressor.
