Project Decepticon Build (2015 Black DC TRD Off-road)

OK, so I first off, the project name came from my 8 yr old son who is a huge Transformers fan. Once I put the retrofit lights in the truck he kept telling me that the truck looked like one of the decepticons from Transformers. So alas... "Project Decepticon" was born.

So the truck: Black 2015 Tacoma TRD Off-road Double cab shortbed automatic. The build started with 10 miles on the odometer (wheels/tires, black TRD sport grille surround, retrofit headlights, and suspension installed). Truck as of today has just over 500 miles on it and is still a work in progress. I'll continue updating this thread with new stuff and additional pictures as I go along.

Immediately after arriving home from the dealership (TRD sport grille surround installed, retrofit headlights installed and new wheels/tires put on; the lift was installed the next morning). Surprisingly the 285/75/16s fit with stock suspension still installed with only minor trimming of the inner fender flare and wheel well plastic:


A week later parked next to my old truck (02 TRD off-road w/ Icon stage 4 lift, 2 in. body lift, and front Baja fenders) that was just sold:

I bought the lights from a member on here that had them for sale. I know he had them done by one of the shops on here, but I don't remember if he ever said which one. They're holding up great so far. Haven't had any issues what so ever.

 

Nice looking truck, looks a lot like mine.

What bull bar is that? I like the look of that more than a lot of the off road bumpers I see on trucks around here.

I picked up the bull bar off fleabay. It's actually the same bull bar that I had on my 02 taco but this one is built for my 2015. Heres the link to the ebay page:

Bought the same exact truck three weeks ago. Love it. Like your lights

 

Nice build. Have any pictures of your lights at night both from driver seat and from down road looking toward lights?

 

I've been trying to but it's been raining the last two nights and the pictures keep coming out like crap. I'll try to get some light pics again tonight.

 

I started adding links to the where I bought the parts from. I've only updated a few so far, but will continue updating. Hopefully this will help folks that are interested in any of the same parts that I've put on the truck.

Nice truck! Love the grille, can't wait for mine. It will look a ton better with a plate bumper, I for one can't stand bull bars.

 

1st purchase once we get back to the states will be a front and rear plate bumper!!!
