Dosent it cost 10,000 for a frame swap at the dealer. They should at least do half of that.

I think Toyota could easily argue that there hasn't been nearly enough rusted out 2nd gen frames to be paying out money like that. In this official thread for rusted frames there has been 2? people on probably the largest Tacoma forum out there. It doesn't seem to be that widespread of a problem honestly. It sucks that it happened to you guys but expecting Toyota to be paying out $5000 to everyone who has a rusted frame doesn't seem logical.

If a bunch more examples of this pop up then yes Toyota should be on the hook for the cost of replacement but as it stands it doesn't seem that widespread.

I could put several fingers through the holes in my 2001. They replaced the entire frame.

That was an issue with a specific set of frames manufactured by Dana for very early 2005's if I'm not mistaken. I spent all day under my truck which has lived most of it's life in Vancouver and it had no serious rust spots on the frame I could see.

Like I said something could be brewing in the boxed section but I doubt it.

Nvm that lawsuit was for 95-00 Tacomas.

and you're posting in this thread why exactly?

the first post is unambiguous and is not requesting speculation.

more people have posted about frame rot problems in an earlier thread (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...a-2nd-gen-terminal-frame-rot-rust-cancer.html) than they have here. So the stats from TW-forum just increased, they're just not visible in this specific thread... yet.

A local independent told me my frame was excessively rusty and that it might not pass it's annual State safety inspection NEXT year (it passed this year... just a month or so ago). Brought it to the Toyota dealership and their analysis that it wasn't rusted as badly as the indy stated.

I cannot see any perforations. I have spent a few hours scrapping and applying converter. It 'looks' better now.

I bought it used a couple years ago and it had nearly 90K on it already, so I think I'll trade it while it still passes and start fresh with a clean, new vehicle. Not sure if I'll get another Taco, or something else.

Previous to the Tacoma, I owned a 03 Ranger which I bought new. It also was showing excessive rust after 6-7 years, so I believe I bear some maintenance responsibility. If I go new, I get it undercoated and then film it each year.... and try to clean it's underside occasionally, during our salty road periods.

Can we please keep the bullshit from members who have no rust issues out of here?

If your frame isn't damaged you shouldn't be in here. I'm only here because this thread was my idea I was just to lazy to do it and keep up with a list.

This thread is a resource for the people having issues and a spot to compile all of their info - not a BS thread.

Not as bad as the more northern states but where I live we do get a good amount of snow and road salt. I still fluid film and touch up the frame when I drag it across a rock. We travel to Colorado a lot during winter time for ice climbing.

Like I said before: You need to add a section to your poll: no rust at all. Maybe we can find a trend, example: location, year of trucks, modifications, and so on. This might help us figure out what is causing it or is Toyota having an issue again. Poll results are low because people like me cant vote and I know there are others that would like to vote with a selection of "no rust." I don't mean to point fingers but it kinda sounds like you want to see high number of votes for rust.

It's very simple. You got perforations - post info.

You don't got perforations STFU and stop posting [IMG]

You are correct in that the only people voting or that should be posting have issues - it's the whole point of the thread.

This is to HELP US ALL GET TSB FRAMES IN THE FUTURE and for the guys having issues now find someone else to talk to and share info/tips with.

Take it easy hot shot he is obviously trying to help you.

Having such a biased poll isn't going to get anything done. It needs more options as it stands it's nearly useless.

Just trying to help and figure out the problem. Thanks Cheeseit said it perfectly. If the trucks are having an issue we need to approach it the proper way before we go to Toyota. If not they will shut us down.

You two can go start your own thread or post in the other 10 of the rusty frame threads if you don't like it. You want to play scientist then go do so, just keep the crap out of here.

Keep up the good fight brother! I'd contact every government agency I could and once we get enough people with the same issues I would contact the media. They love these kind of stories.

I put in info all over the place... even the media. No one wanted to bite. Truck is being sold as of tonight. Stripping it down to stock and picking up my new truck in a week. Doneski
