Don't worry folks, I'm sure someone will come along soon who will find a way to blame Toyota for this. Soon after that some other guy will come along saying that his Dodge or Chevy never required more than 4 oil changes in 130,000 miles so why should a Toyota, LOL :D:D:D

Lack of maintenance (in this case) wasn't the problem since 2nd gen tacomas don't have grease fittings on their prop-shafts. Or at least mine and every other tacoma i have ever worked on don't have them.

You think thats bad. Friend of the family had bought Buick one of those old ones driven by old lady. So car was old but had only 30k miles on it.
So my friend being a single women drove that car for 120 K miles with out the oil change and was surprised that engine had seized. :p

Even BMW's retarded 12k maint wouldn't be 4... and my buddies lease hit the oil light at 8k lmfao...

Thanks for the pics... it's always humorous and amazing to see... that is until the vehicle seizes up, drive shaft falls off, or brakes fail and they slam into a minivan with a full family. It's too bad you can't impound their license on the spot.

True story I know another single female that did something similar but with less miles and she was adding oil constantly as she was told by her friendly neighborhood mechanic in Brooklyn. He told her no need for oli changes just to check level and add more. She did for a year and half :D
Her Dodge finally gave out on Long Island Expressway
I have a rule not to buy a car from single women because I know its going to be neglected.

Well maybe its a Canadian thing then. Ive had several Tacoma owners come into the shop wanting their prop shaft lubed but just no grease fittings.

Maybe...strange though...FWIW, my zerk nipples were all painted over the first time I went to grease her up.

Toyota's run just fine if you add oil. A 2000 Tacoma ran up to 732K+ by using this technique, obviously must be bullet proof. :D
