Permatex black would probably work, but in my book permatex is mostly trash. Threebond makes Toyotas adhesives and Honda's and I've had excellent luck with it not leaking.

Once he gets it torn down and pulls the crank gear off I bet he'll be more confident about whether or not the fix will work. Until then its all guess work.

I was just going to tag you about it, yeah that’s awful. They say Big Bear is next today if the winds move as predicted.

edit - I'm thinking of two different fires actually, the Bridge Fire is the one that destroyed Mountain High yesterday and the Line Fire is the one threatening Big Bear today.

if they had blown in our direction we’d have another huge fire here like the Bobcat fire 4 years ago that got real close to home

 

Smells smoky here today, winds must've shifted. Montana was getting much of the Idaho fires and I guess we are getting some today

The Bridge Fire is actually pretty damn close to us but it has been spreading south east since it started, fortunately (for me)
