Interested to hear about your tie rod replacement because I'm going to do my inners and outers in an attempt to tighten up my steering. The PO already replaced the rack bushings with polyurethane energy suspension bushings. I can move the tie rods easily while they're still attached to the spindle so I'm guessing the ball joints are bad on the outers. The tie rods might be one of the few original parts left on the truck.

Like the overhaul you're doing! Definitely time for a new front bumper I'd say

Sooooooo got off work at 5 and drove 5 hours with my friend mark to the ferry terminal For Fogo island, slept in the truck to be able to catch the first ferry in the morning at 8:00am.

Set up the generator well away from the truck with a extension going to heat dish. Had some good sleeping bags, good thing -14c parked by the ocean wind IMG_2699.jpgIMG_2661.jpg IMG_2659.jpgIMG_2660.jpgIMG_2671.jpgIMG_2693.jpgIMG_2696.jpgIMG_2699.jpg

No not routine at all !

But all this fooling around was worth it.

    Picked up a 2004 Tacoma v6 auto 4x4 TRD SR5

FOR PARTS to rebuild my Red 2002 Tacoma

    IMG_2710.jpg IMG_2711.jpg IMG_2713.jpg IMG_2714.jpg IMG_2717.jpg IMG_2718.jpg IMG_2740.jpg

Drove on the ferry, and onto trailer.

This truck's box is in better shape then my red truck after the damage. It's running on 5 out of 6 cylinders, and the frame has been welded so it's a parts truck to keep the red one going.

Guess next week will be "let's find that lost cylinder"

    Thanks :)

Replacing inner and outer tie rod ends is easy ! The outer just pop out of the steering nuckel. You can use a puller, or a smack with the hammer with the nut flush with the end of the treads. Then just back off the lock nut and un screw the tie rod from the inner. Take note how far the threads are out so you can put the new one back close to the same adjustment. The inners require the removal of the inner boot. There is a locking tab fold that back and I used a big adj and monkey wrench to loosen.

    Again super easy !

Post #50 should be fixed !!!!!

I wrote it in the truck on the way home while my friend was driving. I tried to add a picture but added one of me and my niece over Xmas and could not figure out how to remove it using the I phone. I thought I saved it to fix spelling and make sure it was readable. No I poasted it !

Note English IS my first language but I suck at it !
