Spec D headlights (garbage, Do not buy) replaced bulb with H7 80W Osram Off Road bulb so I could actually see. The lights they send do not put off any light at all and it's impossible to see anything at night... TOYO Open County AT III's (smooth ride, not loud) with Matte Black 17-In. TRD PRO Wheels Plasti dipped emblems and Bull Bar (Lasted about 2 years, need to spray them again)
    found the group buy... http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/gr...-r-mini-group-buy-only-need-10-round-3-a.html
are these any good??! is there one CHEAPER??!!!
I'm kind of digging the halo's for daytime running lights...
how difficult is it to take apart the headlight casing??! is this gonna be a day job?!!

Definitely want to do this, but I tend to doubt myself when it comes to electrical sometimes... it took me 3 weeks to figure out how to wire up my train horn...
Is there a Good Write up (perhaps with PICTURES) that goes step by step or am I making this sound more difficult than it really is... (which I tend to do)
Oh and I heard someone say something about splicing into the parking lights for the Halo's... Don't even know where to start with that, but I guess we'll cross that bridge later...

Projectors are the way to go people :)

if you want brighter, more usable light. Save up and go the retrofit projector route. Drop-in HID kits can be bright and good but you'll blind others and highlight yourself more because of the scattered light.

    Yes, check out the retrofitsource.com

they have complete kits with everything you need to proceed with a retrofit (projectors, shrouds, ballast, bulb, wire harness) and like Conman117 says, get the LHD

Say I get this identical kit, once I get it how much to get it done? I have never opened a headlight or done anything like this.

Very very easy. Preheat your oven to 285. Take off your headlights and remove all plastic, rubber, and metal pieces. Don't forget the two metal clips that clamp the lenses on.

What I did was ran a piece of cardboard under a faucet to dampen it a bit. Then I put it on a cookie sheet and put the headlight with then lense faced down on the cardboard. Put it in for 6-7 minutes and do not take your eyes off it. Take it out right after the time is up.

Wear gloves and use a flat head screwdriver to pry the lense off. Starting at the corners is easiest. Be careful to not get the glue on the lense or reflector bowl. Do the lights one at a time btw. And take your time.

After they're opened up, you need to remove the halogen bulb shield which is two screws. After that the projectors just slide through and screw on from the backside. I had to dremel out one tiny notch to fit the high beam solenoid wire into but that's the only cutting I had to do.

Then you wanna aim them before putting the lense back on.

After they're aimed, follow the same steps to seal them back up. I actually used a heat gun set at 500 degrees to soften up the new glue and then clamped the lenses on for about an hour. I also ran a bead of silicone around the edges of the lense just in case

Pm me if you have any other questions. I wrote this on my phone so I probably missed a step.

Lol yeah. It was very easy. Just gotta be careful to not strip the threads. I was going to paint the bowls black but I got too impatient and just forgot about it. Still looks good though.

I think I'd like the Halo's cuz they look cool for driving (I guess they would be spliced into the parking lights)...????!

I read somewhere to get the Resealing glue (+$10)... can I get this from Lowe's or would I have it in my garage?? (is it specially made for this? what's it actually called?)

Then as far as the Shrouds go, It looks like the Mini's are the simplest to install (from what I've read)...
What makes the FX-R's so much better??! better light output, etc?? just curious...
I'm a little leery of cutting my headlight casings... (When I was cutting my grill out, I thought for sure I would break the plastic and have to buy a new one)

Everyone that does the Retrofit say it's Night and Day, so I wanna do something soon...

I did read one review... It says you have to disable the Solenoid or something... What's this about??!

What's the best Discount Special Retrofit Source runs?? (certain time of year, etc.?)
