I bought the truck new in December 2004 and ran it basically stock for 15 years. I'll include several pics that I can dig up before and after on this and follow this with the 2nd post containing the build info. Most recent on top.

My son and I have been digging the rocks! Sliders and armor have since been installed. September 2020 at hidden falls ...

I am set to pick up a pair of chevy 63s and will start assembling the parts targeting an install later in 2021 to get that rear tire closer to the ground haha:

Most of the 'offroad' time is on the beach. Here's hurricane Laura in August 2020. The central TX gulf was spared, and we're all wishing the TX/LA coast a solid recovery:

The new suspension, and the start of tinkering, really began in 2020 after 15 years and 155k miles. Here we are in 2020 down at the Padre Island National Seashore going after some reds:

Here's how we rocked the first 15 years. The only real additions are the snugtop cap and some 17" FJ rims and slightly larger tires my buddy had no use for.

Thanks to Keith, Amanda and Cecil at Austin Mobile welding for putting these sliders on this morning. Keith shared a video of his old LT Tacoma jumping the pismo dunes back in the day.

    clean welds ...

These sliders from 4x are awesome. I put them to the test immediately after the install and I can say I have all the confidence in the world in their ability to protect the truck.

Teady to be primed and painted -- after prep, I used rustoleum self-etching and their truck bed coating -- same as the sliders

I did re-route the exhaust but I may take another pass at it since it's REALLY REALLY close. It's actually more than close. The armor is pushing it up which I know isn't good lol.

Trying a few new lines that limited us before -- nothing to worry about now.

the diff also held up well - one ledge had a rock that basically creeps out a bit too far right in the middle of the only way up. We thought we had it -- it was pretty muddy / slippery, and barealy missed. one or 2 rock placements later and we rolled right up.

Truck looks good. When I first saw the title I thought that a spoiled 15 year old got a truck for his birthday but this is much cooler.

oh sh&t -- I should probably change the title. My 14 year loves the trails as much as me, is an excellent spotter, and is probably counting down the days hahaha.

I swear this thing saved me $$ the first 15 years and now I'm in a free fall down the rabbit hole.

Installed a twin ARB in the bed cubby over the weekend with the expedition essentials mount. All fairly straightforward. I did have to extend the wiring to go from front to back.

I left the manifold out and will re-install once I get to the lockers later this summer. Overall it works as expected, and I love that it is so accessible in the rear. HF has air stations but this will be great for the seashore and other trips.
