You have to use pilers to squeeze it down to make the termination, wire tap in this case it is fine to use it.

i dont like the idea of blocking the tail gate lever from moving, it looks like thats is a good way to have someone break it off!
i am going to use the more obvious route and install an actuator on each side of the tail gate to prevent the mechanism from releasing the cog that latches the tail gate on each side. 2 actuators that slide a pin into the mechanism to prevent it from releasing. that would work a lot better. this way you can open the handel all you want but the gate itself wont open.

yes they do come with instructions, it is very simple to install, the hardest part is finding the right wires, and then just make sure you squeeze the wire taps hard enough mine didnt work at first because I did not.Anybody can handle it.Good luck

Would you happen to have the instructions? I purhcased this a couple weeks ago and lost the instruction sheet. Surely don't want to attempt without it. TAC09CHSA.. Too bad this is the only alternative, I don't know why these trucks don't come with locks.

If anybody can post the intruction sheet up that would be wonderful!!

    Thanks in advance,

    Terrance

I just put one of these in last weekend. Not too hard of a job at all. Blue/red and blue/black wires can be found more easily in the passenger's kick. I just did an alarm/remote start install a couple weeks ago so I have been in the drivers side kick. Passenger side is *much* less cluttered and you can easily see the wires going into the door. Just untape the bundle to get some slack to make the connections. A tip... use crimp on t-taps instead of the splices supplied by Dynolock. Then if you have 'em backwards all you need to do is unplug the spade plugs and swap them.

Another tip... if you have an extra 12v battery handy (I used a motocycle battery) or long jumper cables you can test the adjustment and operation before doing all the wiring to the truck. Much easier to repeat tests right there at the tailgate by just touching the wires to the battery.

I did have one issue. The inner tailgate cover that you remove to get at the latch has an indexing tab that pokes into the space and in my case hit the Dynolock nylon block. So my perfectly adjusted lock didn't lock after I installed the cover. I had to trim some of the block away so the tailgate cover tab didn't hit it and push the thing out of alignment.

So far the Dynolock works great. With this and the hose clamp mod I think it wlil be too much of a PITA for most thieves to bother with.

Thanks for the advise. I kinda started messing with it today, but once I
got to #6 which is figuring out how to position the DynoLock I gave up..
I didn't know if the thing was already locked or unlocked and exactly what position to bolt it down too :) . I figured I would skip that part for now and take a look at whats under the kick, then I gave up again. haha.. OH boy. After seeing all those wires in 3 different bundles and didn't see those mentioned in the instruction. I figured I would go back inside and get a few beers.

I guess from reading the posts the wiring is trial and error.. I think I can
handle that.. but the positioning of the Dynolock itself has left me a bit
    confused.

I will check out the passenger side as you said.

    Terrance.

Ok... I enlarged the pic that Jim sent me and got the lock bolted down. Tested
it with the 12V as suggested and it works great. No need to trim anything.. i guess your voices
was heard! I located the blue/pink & blue/black wires... but I think i'll have another beer before
I continue.. gotta figure out how this splicing thing works and how the other wires from the
tailgate connect to the longer wire harness.

Redman67, don't worry, it is not that bad. Just use a knife cut the electrical tape out on the second bundle, long enough for your hand to work on, than look for the wire, and you will be all set.
