I have a 2012 DCSB 4x4, I notice a very slight shudder under hard acceleration from a stop. Nothing really that I'm worried about at this point though. I'm only at about 700 miles so far...

yup same problem, I fixed it myself though had a post going on it will try to post a link for you if your interested. Sucks to spend that kind of money and have a problem like that, but with as many complaints as there are about it I would think toyota would step up and fix it. I did and it didn't cost me all that much although some people have a problem with toyota not fixing it but I am kind of a DIYer.

I was thinking about trading my 04 and get a 2012 DC 4X4 TRD and the dealer accepted my offer. After reading about this issue, I dont know what to do. Has anyone took their truck to Scott Clark Toyota in Stallings NC for this problem??

This is a reply I got from a local dealer

    Marty,

I'm familiar with the issue you're talking about. It's caused by the drive
shaft's angle on the universal joint. At peak torque range (15-25mph) the
U-joint effectively has to jump into place, causing this vibration. This
however is an issue that is caused by the niche that the truck fits and is not
bypassable. This problem could be fixed by switching to a constant velocity
joint; which under the peak torque range will be significantly more smooth. CV
    joints are generally found in vehicles in which a smooth ride is preferred;
however, due to the fact that they are not nearly as strong and can not perform
on the level of a U-joint they are less common in trucks with a working
heritage. Maybe in a few incarnations the Tacoma will be switched to CV joints
but as of today the Tacoma is still attempting to be an off-road vehicle. In
recent years, especially with the advent of independent front suspension, the
Tacoma has been becoming more and more of a road truck and less of a off-road or
    work truck.

Recap, the issue is a know side-effect of U-joints when working under high
angles and is generally considered to be a minor issue. It does not occur in
all driving styles and if the customer experiences it there are methods of
reducing the issue however it can not be completely fixed. Does this
information change your decision to hold off?

He is full of sh$$$t the first gen tacoma had a CV style u-joint and the tundra also has a CV style u-joint I think toyota was trying to save a few pennies and this is what they came up with.
