2012 Regular Cab 4x4 $965 under window sticker bought the 6 year 100,000 mile warranty for $1100......from reading on TW looks like I should have gotten the warranty for around $800 :( But I figure the $500 rebate from Toyota covered some of that for me :)

Lots to come at some point. Hopefully soon.
2012 Double Cab Sport 4x4 MGM short bed automatic w/out the entune navigation. 30,700 plus like 400 for title and registration stuff. I was told 30,444 for the SAME truck a week before but they said they can no longer do that, SOB's:mad:. Still a fair price though I think. Truck should be here in a week:) Bought in Vancouver Washington.

Ok I made my mind up to buy a brand spanking new 2012 Toyota Tacoma Access V6 4x4 with the TRD package. I want to get it in black with graphite interior. I went to truecar.com and and came up with a figure of $29,371 -$1,000 college grad rebate (Just graduated from college) +7.75 sales tax . I figure an OTD price of $30,570. Is that a good price to offer to local dealerships? How do you recommend I handle this cash deal? After reading several threads I hear I should only deal with the fleet manager ONLINE or internet sales guy. They say to forget going into the dealership until you are ready to sign the papers.

I made a thread to vote on my deal:

Dealer was asking $22,710 for my 2012 Regular Cab 4x4 with a manual. However, I financed $19,285.00 for 72 months @ 4.25%, after I put $300 down. I as well got the College Grad credit of $1K. Anyhow, I've posted the options that came with it.

I'm looking into a 2011 or 2012 double cab, trd off road, tow package.

Right now they are quoting me $30,290 for a 2011 they would have to dealer trade or $29,790 for the only 2011 left on the lot but it's black and I will not buy black.

    For a 2012 it's $31,250.

All prices are before tax and $244 for tags and bs fee's. These prices seem decent but I'd rather be closer to $30k for a 2012.

Prior to Jan XX of this year, Truecar offered "guaranteed price", now they don't because of some lawsuit. Now they simply give you a price to shoot for. This is how I negotiated with the dealers using Truecar.

If you are in the Southeast - go to website of Apex Toyota, search new inventory, click link at top to search all inventory in the Southeast. Use drop down box to select your particular model (ACSB, DCLB, etc.) go to details tab, sort by color, then simply click on each truck till you find the one with the options you are looking for. Tadah! They also give you the invoice for that truck!

Armed with that info, you know the markup. Keep in mind Toyota also has 2% dealer holdback. The key is to find the truck you want on the lot at dealership around -i.e. NO dealer trades. If you try to get truck via dealer trade, the dealership loses its holdback funds from Toyota and YOU lose that negotiating leverage.

Once you have found the truck you want, at a dealership around you, contact the Internet / Fleet rep for that dealership. DO NOT walk on the lot or use a regular salesperson. Simply tell the internet person that you are coming in to make a deal on a tacoma. Show up with the invoice (different truck but if same options - same invoice cost). Have a Truecar / Costco / whatever buying service ..... in hand. Tell them you want to deal with Internet / Fleet salesperson because you do not want to deal with the "Lot Vulture" BS. You have limited time that you can spend at the dealership and just want to get the truck and move on. Show him invoice, flash Truecar price, say I want to buy XYZ truck on their lot for $X price (calculate offer ahead of time to be 12% off MSRP, actual target price 9-10% off MSRP). Only give him/her chance to do ONE "check with manager", probably get declined at 15%, then jump offer to 10% off range and write it up. DONT let them try to get approval at this point, if they do simply say I told you I didn't have time to mess around with the BS so C-YA! (probably not gonna happen that way though).

The reason you go to Internet / Fleet is because their mission is to move volume. This dept. typically has exclusions applied with regards to overhead, PLUS they are only salespeople empowered with ability to negotiate with dealer cash incentives (look it up if you're unfamiliar) thus they can negotiate LOWER than invoice AND the 2% holdback.

Hope this helps for those of you still searching. Good luck!

BTW, if you negotiate below invoice - holdback into the realm of using some of the dealer cash you may not be able to take advantage of special financing rates.

Depends on your location. See my previous post. I think you could do $800-1000 less.

Hey guys, just an idea to help you find a good deal. Now that it is 2012 and there are some 2011 models left, try Autotrader.com and search for New 2011's. There were some decent discounts. One particular 2011 Silver DC 4x4 TRD Off Road is available at $29,378. I'll include the link. You might able to talk them down even more since we're almost to March.

    Good luck.

I think if I had made the drive to Nashville I could have done better, but that's an hour...

Refused to budge on the color and got a nautical blue, they had to get one from St Louis. Real happy.
