Posting for a friend here...he will chime in later.

A buddy of mine just bought a brand new 2012 4x4 DCSB TRD Off Road, fully loaded with every factory option available (showroom truck). He had the dealership install a lift for him. As far as I can tell consists of a Toytec Ultimate lift with the front coilovers, billy 5100's in back, and the 1.5" block under the factory leafs. He only has 3 leafs in the rear, meaning the TSB is not done and there is no AAL on the truck.

His plans for his truck include dune riding, jumps, whoops, mudding, and some mild actual 4x4 trailing. What he would like to know is if the Toytec Ultimate Lift with just the Billy 5100's and block will be okay for what he'd like to do. If not, what lift would you suggest?

    Pics I took last night:

    Thanks.

wow, Impressive for a dealer lift..

I personally wouldn't jump that lift, and if I wanted to do that, I'd be getting a long travel kit, I'm sure the LT guys will chime in with which one to get..

Thanks for the input so far.

I forgot to add, this is also his daily driver. I guess that's important to consider when suggesting an LT lift since it could affect the way the truck performs on the highway, etc.

you can't have the best of both worlds though..
IF he keeps it to smallllll jumps, maybe a set of Icon extended travel coilovers, and still a new leaf pack for the rear, if the rear can't keep up to the front, it will donkey kick on every jump and whoop.

A mid travel set up is really what he needs to shoot for. full LT won't be as nice on the highway, and may be overkill. The lift that is on there can't handle nearly the abuse of an LT kit though, and I'm sure he can sell the lift thats on there on the forum in no time!

Thanks Traveler for this for me! I would love to do a long travel setup however it's 4x4 so I will not be able to do LT. The front spring are 600lb and are very stiff on the road, as for the rear I can't tell because I haven't taken out and given it a good beating yet.

*Update* Just got off the phone with the GM from Toyota service dept and he told me the TSB update was cured with the 2012 models. He said that Toyota now uses a stiffer spring pack for the new 2012's to resolve this issue...
