    Hi everyone,

Thank you all for everything you post on here. It's been a great help. This is my first post.

I noticed some rust under the front end of my Tacoma the other day and took a couple shots of it.

Is this something I need to be worried about?
Is there anything I can do to fix?
    Any recommendations?
    Anyone else have this issue?

    A couple notes:
    1. I bought the truck from the first owner with 5,800 miles on it.
    2. I lived about 3 blocks to the beach with the truck for about 5 years.

    Thank you in advance!

Looks like your run of the mill rust from living in a salty environment. You drive on the beach with it at all?

Seems a little excessive for a 2013 For just living by the beach. What state?

Those components are typical to pick up surface rust first as they are pretty much unprotected while driving.

    rinse it regularly?

    Hi!
Thanks for the reply. I never have driven it on the beach. I washed it regularly. I did have a boat as well, but I would think it would cause the back to get more rust than the front if that was affecting it.

Do you think it's surface rust or parts need to be switched out?

Begin by Fluid Filming the shit out of it while paying special attention to the inside channel of the frame. Fluid Film will at least prevent it from getting worse and buy you some time while you decide if you want to tackle the job of removing the rust or not. Lots of threads on TW about how to remove frame rust if you want to go that route.

My truck lives on the beach 3 seasons of the year and in the winter salt for the other. Nowhere near the amount of rust you have. Use berkebile PFC or fluid film. I'd grind that off and put a fresh coat of paint on it.

I’d have the dealer look at that.

Actually, I was just reading about the settlement. I called the local dealer and they are going to inspect it and let me know what they can/can't replace.
Here is the website for anyone else interested: http://www.toyotaframesettlement.com/
Although my 2013 is not listed they are still replacing/fixing frames...not sure on other parts. This is the thread where I started going down the rabbit hole to find the information: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/frame-coverage-for-2011.590939/

Thanks everyone and I will report back with their response.

I'm surprised that anyone's surprised by this. That's just your normal planned obsolescence at work.

Oh man. I need to check my frame. I have a 2013 and hardly drive to the beach with it. I mostly live inland

For the exposed areas I would use a wire wheel to remove the rust, then prep with Metal Ready, coat with POR-15 and then paint it. After coat the frame with Fluid Film inside and out.
