2014 Non JBL w/ nav & Entunes retrofit w/ info & part numbers

Ive spent weeks researching and collecting information from other members on here. I'm making this thread to share all the information in 1 place.

First off, I've gotten a lot of good information from Jerez, FLTrucks, adio, and ajw1986 to name a few. Without their help, I would have never been able to get everything sorted out. Thanks guys :beer:

This isnt going to be a DIY thread on how to install the radio, but more of a collection of information on the parts used to install the radio.


BACKGROUND -

The radio is a non JBL touchscreen out of a '14 Tacoma. It has navigation & Entunes. I will be installing this radio into a '11 non JBL Tacoma with steering wheel controls.


THE GOAL -

Installing an OEM '14 radio and making it function 100% as intended from the factory. The goal is having use of the navigation, the Entunes apps, bluetooth, USB, 3.5mm headphone jack, and steering wheel controls.


PARTS NEEDED FOR THE RETROFIT -

So far, I've ordered everything listed above save for the BT/voice command controls, ribbon cable, mounting bolts, bracket to bezel screws, and bracket to bezel push pins and I've spent just over 500$.


RADIO PLUG BREAKDOWN -

Here is a breakdown of the plugs on the backside of the radio.



I have everything figured out except the last 2 plugs.


INITIAL SHAKEDOWN -

Upon receiving the radio, I removed the factory radio and installed the new one to see what matched up with the existing '11 radio wiring.

The existing power & speaker plugs match the new radio, so I plugged them in.



The radio turns on. The CD player works, but that's about it.

If you were to just add the AM/FM antenna adapter, you would be able to use the basic functions of the radio - AM/FM tuner & CD player. The bluetooth, Entunes, navigation, USB, or 3.5mm auxillary jack will not work.

I noticed the radio bezel fits the '11 and older dashboard bezel pretty well, but not 100% perfect, which is kind of disappointing. There is a small gap along the top of the dashboard and on the sides of the bezel.

I have purchased a spare dashboard bezel to modify to fit the '14 radio better. I plan on trimming it across the top and sides so everything sits flush.


PARTS LIST RUN DOWN -

Radio -

I purchased mine used from another member on the forum. I received the radio, the mounting brackets, the bezel, the clock/hazard assembly, the XM unit, and the XM harness. I did not receive the push pins, the mounting bolts, or the bezel screws - I plan on sourcing these from the hardware store and will post info/part numbers on them once I find the correct ones. Another option - FLtrucks seems to be a very popular vender to purchase the radio from on this forum.

Navigation antenna -



Part number - 86860-0c010. I purchased mine from FLtrucks, as he had the best price on them. This antenna picks up the signal for the navigation.

USB conversion cable -



Part number - PT546-00120-US or Ebay part "Axxess AX-TOYUSB Select Toyota & Lexus OEM USB FEMALE Retention Adapter". The OEM unit is about 4 times more expensive the Ebay unit. The part converts the radio USB plug into the traditional USB plug. From here, you can run the USB cable to choice of location.

Antenna adapter -


Part number - PT546-00120-AD or Metra 40-LX21. The Metra part is about 4 times cheaper than the OEM part. This part allows you you to plug the OEM antenna plug into the new radio.

20/28 pin harness adapter -



Part number - PT546-00120-CH. This part connects the OEM 20 pin harness to the 28 pin plug on the the radio. The 20 pin harness works the steering wheel controls and the 3.5mm auxiliary jack. The bluetooth mic also plugs into this harness. I purchased mine from Camelback Toyota as they had the cheapest price.

Bluetooth mic -



Part number - PT546-74120-MC. The bluetooth mic works the bluetooth. I purchased mine from Camelback Toyota as they had the cheapest price.

Bluetooth/voice control switch -



Part number - 84244-35030-b0. These steering controls allow you to use the voice command functions. I haven't purchased this yet.

Steering wheel switch control ribbon cable -



Part number - 84204-58010. This cable connects the bluetooth steering wheel controls to the controls on the left side of the wheel. I haven't purchase this part yet.

UPDATED WITH MORE INFORMATION

 

So how does the USB/AUXPort plug into the 20/28pin harness adapter ? I have the radion now and looking to order soe of the other connectors. I really would like the blue tooth mic, gpx and auxiliary. But I do not see how the auxiliary jack you display plugs into that harness or the back of the radio. Appreciate guidance.

 

I still aint figured out HTF to get the USB working on my 2012. Its starting to bug the chit outta me. I am SURE that there is a way to "combine" 2 adapters to plug into my stock wiring and the radio.

This is in black, it doesn't come with clips or the vents, but all of these are interchangeable from the 05 to 11 bezels.

This fit perfectly in my 2006.

Reviving this thread: are these the direct replacements for the OEM bezels? I'm trying to figure out if there is a bezel that will fit my 2008 taco that also fits the 2014 HU perfectly without the tiny bit of space between the stereo and ac controls. Not sure if that would be this bezel, the face plate bezel or a combination of both. Everywhere I've read, people have said it isn't a perfect fit. Surely there's a way?
