2015 SR5 build. lets keep it more simple this time!

hey all figured id start this at the start this time instead of a few years down the road like my last tacoma build thread...

ive had a tacoma before i had a 2013 that was heavily modified that i did love but sadly i broke it a lot and it became unreliable so i ended up selling it off for a new 2022 ford ranger... well after a year and a half the ranger started having shifting issues... after ford not helping with the issues and it leaving me stuck at home a few times where id have to take my bike into work (on not fun days to ride..) i decided to put it back to stock and sell it/trade it.

i ended up trading it for this little 2015 tacoma access cab sr5. nothing to special but should do me fine on camping and taking motorcycles around places.

this build will be kept pretty simple and wont really wheel unless its to get to a camp site and nothing crazy. so if you want to see some epic wheeling pics! you are in the wrong place lmao.

here it is the day i picked it up at 5:30pm 10/23/23

not even 4 hours later i took my wheels from my ranger and put them on and put my old trd pro grill on

Info on the truck:
its a Barcelona red 2015 sr5 access cab 4x4 with the 4.0 v6 and standard automatic transmission with tow package. doesnt seem to have many add ons or anything to special from the dealer.



Current mods:


Front grill stuffs: TRD PRO grill,

Suspension:
Upper control arms: bilestien uppers
Front coils: Bilstein 6112s (set at 2" of lift to let it sag down to 1.5")
Rear shocks: Bilstein b8 5160s
Leaf springs: stock for now

Wheels/tires: method 701 beadgrip in bahia blue 17x8.5x0
cooper st maxx 275/70/17

Armor: all pro ifs skid

Bed rack: all pro pack rack (aluminum)

Bumper: viper cut with us off-road winch mount.

Winch: warn 10k synthetic

Tonal cover: off the truck atm until i can modify it

Interior: lots of patches lol

Cb: not installed

Headlight housings: trd pro knock offs (from my 2013)

Tail light housings: stock

Leds: 30" cali raised bar in grill (needs new wires)
cali raised led cubes for ditch lights (needs new wires)

Ditch light brackets: cant remember the brand but bought them off @Tigerian old truck

Intake: nothing

Camping: my camping setup will be on my m100 military trailer/ the truck for now the m100 is for sale so hopefully it will be gone eventually. The trailer has its own thread so go look at it!

Recovery: maxtraxx and assortment of straps d-rings and snatch blocks

-method race wheels 701's in machined finish

-6112s up front but keep it at like an inch of lift instead of higher✓

-5160s in the rear? maybe idk i might just do 5100s✓

-idk about leafs thou my truck had dakars so im not sure if i can get by with oem or if id need a add a leaf?

-some nicer headlights eventually but waaay down the list lol

-sound system (this trucks speakers are kinda pathetic i need that bass! gotta get the wub wubs!)

Truck got used as a truck yesterday to tow a car a buddy wanted. Towed good pretty typical for a tacoma at least.

haha thats true! to me simple means no heavy armor like plate front bumpers, full belly skids, high clearance rear bumper (where you chop the rear) and stuff like that. i do want nice suspension and atm im between bilstien 6112s with 5160s in the rear oooor going back to fox 2.5s in the front and 2.0s in the rear. both would do me fine and one is a lot cheaper but the fox i had was awesome on my last truck it rode great! i also want sliders for protection against anything offroad or at the local mall lol, us offroad winch mount since i have no locker so i can get my self out of being stuck if i find my self in that when going to campsites and such. rear plate bumper to have recovery points incase i get in a situation and for protection out in the nowhere lands or at the local mall (which i already need i guess!!.... someone hit my rear bumper...)

 

I run Dobinsons and have been very happy. I eventually want to upgrade from the IMS(adjustable) to the MMR(resi's)

 

ive looked into dobinsons but was never to happy with them if that makes sense. a old buddy ran them and they seemed okay but just didnt like the ride of them tbh

 

I'm trying to ID that wing badge on the grille, but all your pics are from the wrong side of the truck, far away, or you're doing your best Michael J. Fox impression with the camera. Is it a Zelda thing or a Warhammer thing?

i forgot about this bumper idea i had years ago back with my grey tacoma. a company use to make these and tbh its nice but the cost is way to high! (2k with crazy lead times and poor fitment...) the idea back then was to have this built and have a way to remove the winch so its not always on the truck so when its not needed it sits at home. (wanted my old truck lighter) this would work well with this idea of trying to keep this truck light.
