If by "real" you mean a couple spinning disks with grippy stuff between them that you can selectively engage or disengage, then yes. They do in fact have a real clutch. I'm not sure what a fake clutch would be. Cable operated clutches haven't been used in production vehicles for quite a while now and I wouldn't want one anyway.

What you refer to as "subdued misery" I refer to "patience and unconditional love." It's definitely an acquired taste, and everyone's got their limits.

 

Patience and unconditional love only applies to your offspring.

I'm just saying, if you are gonna go against all the great advice given to you today, at least consider discussing these legitimate concerns with her before actually doing it. Record it, make her sign a document stating that she wont change, and put some guarantees in there for your benefit.
