I always had a massive lust for the RVT, but that range was a big deal. Of course, it was probably right for the ergos.

200mi+ range is a nice thing for either commuting or trips.

I don't get how my 2003 4Runner that weighed 4,280lbs got consistently around 19.5mpg and my 2018 Tacoma Sport that weighs almost exactly the same gets 2mpg less with a smaller engine.

Hypermilers are the bane of my existence. It's like they don't think about the effects their shitty driving has on the people around them.

Makes me want to drop a few years while I'm tailgating them just to bring balance to the force.

Yep! But IMO, 99% of the Prius / hybrid drivers are not trying to be a hypermiler. They just suck or are uber / lyft drivers.

I think that I have seen for real hypermilers a few times.

I'm always asking myself, is this person hypermiling or a Washington driver? Usually you can tell because hypermilers are in the right lane and wa drivers are in the passing lane

Exactly! That is the determining factor.

    PASSING LANE!!!!

Burns me to my soul when people call the left lane the "fast lane". :bananadead:

    Its for passing, not fasting!

What type of driving? Have you done a baseline by driving a long stretch of flat-ish freeway? Driving 70MPH, gently, I am at or slightly above EPA ratings. Mix in city driving, too many variables.

4x4 and 2wd trucks are a big variable too. I think a lot of people claiming 20 plus mpg have 2wd trucks. My 4x4 running 105 base tune with 265/70 17s and usually get 18.5-19.5 mpg. Sometimes on a good day I can get 20

99% of my driving is in town and short trips,I occasionally see 17 if I get lucky. Last highway trip I got almost 18 averaging 65-70 mph

    4x4 with MT gearing here.

    Just plunked this up:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/just-thought-this-was-pretty-amazing.615704/#post-20911065

On trips (non-commuting), I have never seen less than 21.5mpg for a full tank.

    I believe @LivinOnEdge is a 4x4 OR also.

If i drive like normal i get 19 to 21.

I drove conservative for 2 full tanks while still keeping up with traffic and managed 23.3 and 24.2 .

This is with a TRD OR DCSB 6mt.

Those last two tanks required effort to achieve, so i reverted back to normal driving

Same. I can only Prius-drive for so long.

I was harder with our old turbo Saab. I couldn't make it through a single tank without letting loose. It sounded so good on the intake and exhaust.

When I drive through our national park at 45 mph I can get 24mpg, but seems like trying to go 70 mph knocks me down to barely 20 or under.

same here, 65mph seems to be the top end for the MPG I posted above. After that, MPG start to drop.

I was surprised a couple times by mileage hits with speed on my bike. I was used to getting about 45 to 50mpg when out on tours. One day, we blasted across WA at a very good speed. I was a bit surprised to see the MPGs go below my usual average of 40. The other time, I hit some stiff headwinds just as my reserve light went on. Usually that is 1.5gal of range left. I got 25mi before I got my first ride in police car. Gawd, those Caprices are cramped in the back. I ended up just a couple miles from a gas station, but on the wrong side of a bridge with no pedestrian access.
