Ok, so I just read some of the OVtune dev thread (kill me now)... it appears VF tuner is hoping to be released in May.

What I am confused about is this. #7 and #13 seem to contradict. I have to assume from all I have read that 2.0 final will not be included to new customers who purchase VF tuner. However I have not yet seen it explicitly stated that new customers who purchase VF tuner will not receive 2.0 final. Read #7 and #13 then hop back over here... https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2016-toyota-tacoma-ovtune-1-05-tune-development-thread.495735/

It has been said that files can be shared with VF tuner. Will others who were able to purchase a flash kit be able to share 2.0 or a modified version of it?

Honestly, at this point I'm just trying to figure out how to get 2.0 on my truck. Being able to make your own tune is awesome, but I'm not currently interested in spending countless hours learning how to create 2.0. I don't have the experience.

All of this is very confusing even with the FAQ in the dev thread since I don't see it being directly spelled out whether or not new customers who purchase VF tuner will receive 2.0 final.

Unfortunately, I believe he/they are fed up with us, and our shit. Rightfully so.
Last I remember he was going to keep us posted.
I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m mistaken.

??? Fed up with who? Potential customers? I did try to purchase a flash kit. They sold out indefinitely while I was clicking on the product on his site.

Not really.... frustrated with some of the behavior in the thread.

    <edit> the main Dev thread.

His business is evolving. Getting more into providing a tuning platform rather than bulk tunes.

while we are potential customers, some of us can be unreasonable, even unpleasant, sometimes. This is magnified through the “keyboard warrior” and “customer is always right” mindsets.
I too would love to purchase a kit. Supposed to be something new in the works...

I'm asking a legitimate question about the product. I'm not gonna be made to feel guilty about it. Lol.

let me see if I can clear it up for you guys.

#1. We are not making any more tunes after 2.0. With exception to stuff we are already working on (like boost)
#13. The software will come example tunes. These are tunes already made. Not new ones I'm making

Since 2.0 Is released for the MT, there is nothing new coming, except boost tunes.

A full version of 2.0 will not be released with vF. An example version will be (it's not 1:1. as the example tune will have some stuff not done). This is something we are only providing to flash kit owners, as they backed us, bought into our product, and made all of this possible.

They will get the files, and they can, if they choose to, share them, modify them, or even sell them. That is their right as the files are licensed to them. So, if you want a tune, buy vF Tuner and befriend your local flash kit owner, or make a tune.

I hope this does not come off as we are just writing off potential new customers. It's not that.

That makes sense and I appreciate you clearing that up. It's unfortunate that I wasn't able to get a flash kit before they sold out. I really just wanted the full 2.0 to flash and be done. Thanks for the reply

Really really sorry if this question is irritating, I really don't intend to drag you down with more questions and make you clarify more stuff.

Will the boost tunes be fully buttoned up tunes like 2.0, or will they only be available as "example tunes" in vF that need to be tweaked on the user end here and there?

Boost tunes will be ready to go right out of the box, and available with vF

Just a thought and I don't know what Mat would think of it but here it goes. Is there any chance that those of us with the flash kit can get a "tune library" for our particular ECU included with the $79.00 purchase or upgrade from dongle to vfTune. In other words all the 1.05/2.0 tune variants as a "package" included with vfTune for our ECU#. This would take a lot of stress off of Mat needing to send out 100's of individual tune requests to everyone.

Hi @OVTune, will we be able to purchase remote tuning services from you after we install a turbo kit? Not for nitpicky shit that could easily be done with vF, but to make the tunes more specific to our vehicles? At least, that was my experience with tuning Subarus over the years; every car was different even with the same mods.

So this isn't meant to be critical. I appreciate Mat's efforts and think he has done right by his customers. Above and beyond in fact. This is just the perspective of a potential buyer.

Maybe I'm underestimating the ease of getting 2.0 with vfTuner, but really that's all I want. I'm confused that after all the work put into this tune it's not going to be offered anymore literally a week or so after it was released. From a liability perspective, what is the difference between an "example" tune that isn't quite 2.0 and an "example" tune that just so happens to be 2.0?

If you're trying not to upset your OVTune customers with the price drop, just know I for one am willing to pay up. Why not offer the option? Basically no 2.0, no sale from me. Not trying to whine, just my thoughts on this.

    Good enough for me
    Order #6214 confirmed

Hope you decide to provide us with a library of tunes for our particular ECU# with our purchase.

Thanks again for all you have done over the years.

    P.S

I know you have been busy but will reopen the ticket about the CEL on the 2.0 91 Dump tube SFOB file after the dust settles with vfTune..

I think part of the challenge is that the new VF Tuner kit is about $400 short of what everyone with the flash kit paid to get to V2.0.

Just providing 2.0 with VF Tuner at that price would be really harsh for the already existing customers.

it may be that OV has to consider selling 2.0, but that’s not in his roadmap right now.
