For now I’m using someone else’s tactrix cable. Will the cable you will be switching to be compatible with the tune I am installing hopefully in the next few days?

Slight change of subject. I think my truck is starting to make the fuel pump noise, but I don't want to take it in because I'm afraid they'll also do the latest ECU update and erase my 1.04 Ovtune, then I've got to wait till September for 1.05 to drop. Does any body know of a problem if I drive with the fuel pump issue till 1.05 comes out?

Hey Mat - did you see the "new" TSB just out - looks like a mod to T-SB 058-18. It is T-SB 062-18. ???

    Looking forward to 1.05. Thanks!

My fuel pump chirped and squealed for 25k miles before they finally came out with a TSB... it’s fine to wait just make sure you get it in while under warranty!!

I didn't know that the a/c being on changed the throttle position. That could be why to me the driver it feels like it does what it does. Does it stock too so i don't think it's an ovtune thing just a thing it does. Just seems like it wants to over compensate when the compressor is running. Maybe that's something that can be mitigated later on through tuning.

I took my Tacoma in for her 30K service a few weeks ago and also requested the chirping TSB be done (sorry- I’m out of town and don’t have the TSB no. handy). Anywho, they called me back to the service bay and I had a great chat with the service tech. We both listened to the HPFP and agreed it was slightly chirping, but not significantly. He said he’d swap in a new one if I liked, but the chirp would probably return later. He said Toyota is catching a lot of flak from Lexus owners whose autos share this same pump. He added this pump has gone through several design changes, but they’ve yet to eliminate the chirp. Since the TSB is good until 60K miles, he recommended waiting and getting the pump swapped later unless the chirp gets worse. He said it would probably be a redesigned ump by then.

I have already sent this question to OV but figured I would post here just in case someone else has the same question:

OV, I am running 1.04 87 and 91 tunes currently. I am curious about this new TSB Toyota has come out with and have been anxious to get it and compare to previous Toyota revisions. What is your personal opinion and guidance on this situation?

Will I have to get the B0400 eventually in order to run the 1.05 tunes? Or will 1.05 incorporate B0300?

I guess the real question is: Other than having to wait on 1.05 to come out, would I be losing anything by getting the TSB done to update my ECU to B0400?

You'll lose the tune until 1.05.

I'm pretty sure that Mat will include the update in 1.05 so shouldn't be any need to get the latest update from Toyota.

Thanks for the replies everyone and the advice you got @Neutron. Guess I fix it with a twist of the radio knob for a while.

Yea, I addressed the fact I would lose the tune until 1.05 is released... That's not really a big concern considering I have 4.88 gears. Those almost make up for the shitty tuning of Toyota. OV is just having the cake and eating it with hot fudge and ice cream with sprinkles, cherries, and gummy worms...

Ultimately, I think updating to B0400 via Toyota is a better idea considering warranty and troubleshooting purposes. If you have nothing to compare to, other than an aftermarket tune, then you don't know what has been fixed and what is still an issue.

I am just trying to get Mat's personal opinion on this matter for the masses. If you want to wait for 1.05 and stay on B0300 or whatever you have then cool, don't comment. I just want the information...

Gee, you don't come across as a dick or anything.......

You've answered your own question, warranty and troubleshooting aren't much of an issue unless the engine toasts a piston, and even then you could just flash it to stock and say you disconnected the battery when it happened. Go try it and let us know what it's like, if it's great, awesome, if not, you've got a couple month wait to get back on OVTune.

Hey Ethan, for what it's worth. I do not have the tune yet but am probably going to be getting the 1.05 when available. I did get the new TSB done and like I said in a previous post I definitely notice a difference everything seems shifting seems noticeably better than before, although not perfect. I also have 4.88 gears like you. Can't compare to the tune because don't have it. But Toyota seems to have done something right with this TSB compared to the first two.
