    Hello fellow truckers,

Is anyone feeling that the 2017 TRD DC OR is a little sluggish on take off and when changing gears? When the ECT is engaged I get a much better response, but without it I feel it’s less then optimal. Any thoughts?

I was thinking maybe boosting the air intake might help performance without ECT activated. Thoughts?

So what can be done to it to boost performance?

Not much at all. Have you had the ECU flashed with the new TSB for the transmission shifting?

I have not. I bought it a couple of weeks ago. Do you know the TSB #?

Has it decreased in performance since you bought it?

I have a 2017 Double Cab 4x4 TRD Off Road with Short Bed. Not sure what MT stands for. I think that’s how it was. Though it was its normal performance.

You're not gonna get a performance boost without a tune, turbo, or supercharger. You could do intake, exhaust, ECT. All you'd get is noise. Basically you just have to deal with the elderly tuned taco that feels like a 4cyl with the AC on full.

According to TW, I am running the trifecta of wasted money... TRD intake, Borla Exhaust (same as TRD), and 93 octane ethanol or 91 octane non-ethanol fuel. I won't claim that it's added any HP, but I also don't need a dyno to tell me that the throttle response is better, the engine response is faster, fuel economy is better (especially after 62-18), and I have a lot more confidence when navigating through traffic. I performed many different 'tests' to gauge how the truck has responded to each, especially the fuel type, and my truck runs best with the TRD intake with an AFE dry filter (instead of the TRD oiled one) and charcoal filter removed, Borla exhaust with the full tailpipe (yes I've tried it without since it's a 2 piece), and non-ethanol fuel.
