I can tell you my 2013 3.5 Ecoboost takes 87 octane, It does better real time on the dash read out fuel mileage wise with higher octane.

Probably just a computer tune, different injects etc. on the LS. But someone posted 91 is the highest this will need and you can use good old fashioned regular if you want.

A 2021 CrewMax 4WD Tundra Pro starts at $55k. My guess is that that the 2022 model will start close to $60k. Toyota will sell a ton of these trucks. To keep development down Toyota decided pull the TT V6 drivetrain from the Lexus LS500 and massage the engine and tranny for truck duty. The 3.4L engine was introduced in 2018 on the LS 500.

Are we sure that's a Tundra?

Economies of scale. One part number for different vehicles. I'm surprised it took this long for auto manufacturers to start sharing large parts like a chassis among different models.

The Tundra wasn't really intended to be an off-roader. Front suspension articulation is lame due to the stiff sway bar. 285/65-18 (33") Falken AT3W tires on BBS forged wheels come stock on the TRD Pro:

I'm sure someone will have sway bar disconnects if someone offroads this.

Yep looks practical to do with this design, without the free end digging into the CV boots like on 2nd/3rd gen Tacomas.

I don't see many long wheelbase trucks wheeling. It's usually a recipe for disaster..lol

In my region (Great Lakes), the width and height are bigger liabilities. Many trails are sized for Jeep CJs, so even the Tacoma gets pinstripes from tree branches. I have to go thru some trails without my seatbelt, to frequently unfold my mirrors knocked back by trees.

Saw a video from Pickup & SUV Talk (nice channel, btw), and his 2WD Tundra had a payload of 1,500#; definitely shy of the payload of the big 3 2WD 1/2 tons. 4WD models will have even less payload. I was hoping Toyota would’ve given it a bit more payload. It’s a truck after all, meant to haul loads.

I like this new body style but I can’t support the discontinuation of the V8. Everyone else still has their V8s. This could have been an option for a year or two atleast. This decision smells of being cheap, politically correct and makes the truck more boring IMO.

Just curious how a V6 is politically correct?

I read somewhere, Toyota wanted to be more “responsible”.

Oh, okay. I guess if it's less polluting, saves fuel etc. it is more responsible. Plus the non hybrid engine is more powerful than the V8 from 2021. I don't think they released the mpg specs yet though.

I'm not liking what I see! That's a lot of flex. Fully boxed frame made of play-dough?
