What frustrates me is this. The Big 3 offer multiple engines including V8s. Nissan also still offers a reliable V8. Tundra went from offering 3 different engines at once (4.0, 4.6/4.7, 5.7) to now only the 5.7, and then if the rumors are true, to only TTV6 and a hybrid. Why is Toyota making themselves less competitive?

A turbo gas v-6 will not last as long as the great 5.7, ask Ford how the turbo's are doing in their work trucks and vans. 100,000 mile turbo life span, like it or not, all of our Ecoboots vans are shitting the bed. One of the cost 12 grand to fix it, and it runs like shit. Now I expect better from Toyota, but turbo's are not good for longevity.

Agree ... hope they still offer a V8 option.

What are the guesses for payload and towing on this new one? The coil spring rear should allow them to do some different things with different coil packs but Toyota is not known for having a lot of choice with things like HD towing packages, payload packages etc. Maybe the coil spring suspension will change their minds?

I’m expecting mid pack for everything of whatever the other brands offer.

That is exactly what did I traded my 17 Tacoma off road for a 21 Chevy Silverado I needed the space and more power but I did not want a tundra poor gas mileage and the same look and feel for the past 10 years. If this new tundra turns out to be a hit I will trade my Silverado but I will wait at least two years for them to iron out the kinks

Like those new body lines on the Gm's but still glad to be back in the stone age Tundra. Gas isn't so bad when commute is less than 10 miles.

But that’s Ford. Even BMW can make a twin turbo I.e M4 last well into the 200k range. Toyota should be just fine.

The new 300 series Land crusier has the 3.5 L and a 10 speed auto. Tundra prob get the same.

V6 judging by the rib count on the plastic engine cover. Orange cables indicate hybrid.

I’m sorry, I can’t help it. Really disappointed if there is no V8.

Need to look ahead. You're in California, right? Nevermind a V8 - gasoline engines will be banned altogether within one truck generation.

Very unjust. Completely unrealistic and selfish legislation.

It mostly depends on how they're driven. Lots of 200k EcoBoost engines out there as well. Work vehicles also tend to get a lot of idle hours and short trips as well.
