Just got a new 2023 Tacoma Limited a few weeks ago. Very excited. Dealer wanted to drill front license plate into the front bumper - which I declined. Have been searching tirelessly to find an alternative and despite nothing specific having been made I think I found a solution. I bought this Bronco Mount (Front License Plate Frame for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BDD791LC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) and am going to modify it in fit. Seems that the angle is not going to work for where I intend to mount it so I’ll have to bend it so the angle is different, and it needs new holes drilled to Mount using as well. Basically intending on mounting the same way this guy did the one he fabricated (https://youtu.be/GCJJWZ1CzZc)

Haven’t completed yet so I’m open to other suggestions. And I will share pics once completed in case anyone else is facing the same dilemma. Cheers!

    Oh look, another mod....
It must be different for Limited's or Sports (They have the color matched front bumper area), my TRD OR came with a bracket for the plate:

Mine is pictured here. I see the difference you’re referring to. Nice looking truck there! Love the blue too

Message @ACEkraut He makes a plate mount for the front no drilling. Ordered one and received it Saturday. Nice quality aluminum and he includes all the hardware.

Your dealer did that. My dealer puts the brackets on all trucks that enter their lot too. Mine was wearing one before I even got to take it for it's first test drive.

It doesn't bother me though. It's a truck, not a curb scraping sports car.

Depends on the state as well. If you purchase a new vehicle in say Delaware, which has no front plate requirement, there is a higher chance of the front holes not being drilled.

It be required down here in Texas, but if you catch the right dealership you can talk them into not installing the bracket. The one I bought from must either hate that conversation or their runners/gophers must be really bored, because every car on their lot has that bracket already drilled in.

My dealer handed me the bracket and said, I don’t know if you want this, but here you go. It’s still in the plastic.

Same here. Live in VA bought it in WV where there is no front plate. Manager handed me the bag and said that they were not going to drill my bumper. I was grateful.

I'm gonna second this. Mine has survived thousands of miles and the carwash. Super slick, mounts with preexisting bolts, sturdy, and he was an easy dude to deal with. Well worth the money.

I just cut that part of the bumper off completely, installed a slimline winch bumper and a flip up/down license plate bracket on the fairlead mount. Much easier.

Mine had it when I picked it up too.
I ended up taking it off since even though it is written on the bracket “This is not a step”, car wash guy stepped up on it. :jpow:

Took it off better. No tickets yet from the law.

Same, but only after the first 45k miles left that lower bumper chipped to hell and I got tired of taking it off to rattle-can it with every oil change.

**Definitely not making the accusation that every Tacoma suffers damage there. Just mine and my weird driving habits I guess.

Well. I used the excuse of not having a plate to get a flip up cover for a hidden winch.

I bought mine in Wyoming (which have front plates) and I live in Kansas (no front plates). My bad for not telling the dealer, so they had already added a plate holder before I arrived. I bought little $2 black plugs at ACE hardware and don’t even notice where they drilled it.
