23mm master cylinder

    It's stuff like the ABS, stability control, and F/R proportioning that would make me leery of messing with the brake system on these trucks. People are really sue happy these days

    That could go both ways. On my JK, it was really annoying driving with warped rotors, dealing with longer stopping distances and frequently replacing shoes. Upgrades didn't affect their systems.

    A bigger master is not going to stop someone from cooking the front rotors and pads.

    The brake system is pathetic on these trucks. Toyota doesn't want anyone to know that the Ridgeline's front rotors are nearly a half an inch bigger so they omit it from the sales lit

    The stock master cylinder is 20.64mm.
    The one in this thread is 23.81mm.

    The size of the master cylinder doesn't have much to do with it being drums or discs and everything to do with the way the rest of the system was designed. All else being equal, a larger master cylinder will increase pedal effort and reduce pedal stroke, nothing else.

    As far as proportioning goes, from what I can recall, it is handled separately from the master cylinder hydraulics in the Tacoma and the Camry, so the rear brake type (drum/disc) would be unaffected if one did such a swap.

    Changing out the other braking components can very well mean that a master cylinder swap is a good option, it really depends on what you're doing.

    Agreed. But that's kinda backwards from where I was going. - Upgrading the rotors and cylinders along with a bigger MC.

    It bolts in, but it may be a while before I get to drive it. Caliper choice, both front and rear, is still up in the air, too... so I can't give any impressions.

    The desire for larger volume is to compensate for using larger calipers. Larger calipers, that are operating with larger pads than stock on larger diameter rotors, giving greater surface area and friction to stop, improving braking ability.
