It would have been a tough decision if the F150 had an MT.

I would have had a lot more changes to get it in the garage.

I usually just have it addressed to me at the hotel and tell the front desk I have a package coming and they bring it to my room when it shows up

I should add that the new Ranger was 2-3 years gone when I got my first Taco and the Frontier wasn't a realistic alternative. The American offerings were pitiful excuses for trucks (again IMHO). It will be a sad day when the MT isn't available on the Taco anymore.

Thanks for bringing the visor card more to life. I was pretty proud of them, and I always felt that they didn't seem to get much attention.
I always expected somebody to recommend changing the wording, but I never got any feedback that I recall.... Personally, I was never happy with the wording.

I still think the traction control table I put on there is actually pretty sweet.
I briefly tried to create a similar table for 2nd gen (and create a card for 2nd gen as well), but I could not get it square in my head, especially with the changes to the 2nd gen over the years.

Yes the table is excellent and useful regardless of 2wd lo mod use. I have only recently begun to review the wealth of information in one of the other threads you contributed to explaining all this. I suppose trail time would be a great teacher but it’s helpful to have an academic understanding as well. If I were in vehicle design I could see how an improved interface might be preferable, something with a visual display of current state and easy to understand controls to transition between terrain and conditions. Lights on the dashboard and buttons in the overhead console aren’t completely intuitive for me yet.

Definitely get some practice in before you need it on a trail. I have seen folks completely frustrated trying to get it in the right mode.

My daughter's friend has an old T4R. They were stuck in a bit of snow trying to turn around. The dash had a lighting diagram for 4wd, but it didn't help much as they were still confused and couldn't get it engaged. In the end, it was basically no different than our one 4wd light and was doing the same bit of flashing while stuck in the transition. IMVHO, not much will help the situation as much as a manual T case lever would where you physically know that it is in gear. After farting around with the T4R, I eventually got it in 4wd and unstuck easily. I gave my daughter's friend a quick demo about switching it in and out and gave her the same advice to practice before she needs it the next time.

The only practice I've received to date is when my 5 year old messed with it while I was picking up some fresh fish. Didn't notice he had moved it to 4H but I sure noticed the binding as I tried to reverse out of the parking stall on dry pavement. Had me a little stressed out till I saw the light and figured it out.

As uninspiring as my prius was, the visual display on electric assist / battery charge was great. It might be nice for rookies like me to have a visual display of power delivery to each wheel with color changes when traction control or abs engages and a lock/unlock icon over each diff. That could be a pretty sick mod if injected via ntsc using one of the many camera interfaces available. Outside of the graphics, I think it's pretty simple to detect specific Canbus messages in order to track current state.

Most times when the TCS goes off for me, I barely catch the last flash of the light once traction comes back. I get the Prius display thing, but that is continuous info. Seeing wheel slip is probably not a good idea since you will probably want to be more focused on where you are slipping to? :D That's just me though.

If you're Taco has only been in 4Hi once, I would say to do it more often just for the sake of the components? The OM recommends 10mi/month to keep things lubed. This keeps the actuators freed up also.

The beauty of the 2LM is that you can get the 'exercise' in on curvy roads now. That will keep the front diff happy and the T case actuator freed up. You will still want to get in and out of regular 4Hi from time to time to keep the ADD actuator happy. Just stopped in your driveway is good there.

My dad was trying to get advice on how to use my youngest sisters T4R in 4x4. I showed him that you can't have 4x4 in a 2wd vehicle. He didn't realize that "2Runners" were a thing lol.

That Prius level of display (also In the hybrid Camrys) will be on the 4th gen trucks for sure. Frankly it'll be really cool/expensive

LoL! This was a real 4wd T4R. Just flashing away partially engaged. My neighbor bought a 4x2 Grand Cherokee for his daughter back in the day. It didn't stay around long.

Definitely expensive. Putting together an home built version, like @daveeasa is suggesting, is probably the better route. The 3rd Gen has enough gizmos already.

Quick update for those waiting on your cards. We survived stage one of our journey homeward. Currently in a tent in Ukiah, CA. Home by Sunday. Will try to send cards on Monday. I think one is to Canada and that will require a special stamp so that may be a little later.

Oh, and also, I miss my truck. Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

For anyone here that has recently placed an order (in the past 24-48 hours), could you please send me a PM letting me know. I have had 4 orders, all of which have been flagged by PayPal as "suspicious" and they are going to be held for up to 20+ days. I just want to confirm that it's not something weird with the link being semi-public.

I have never had this issue before and this bullshit is going to make me switch to a different payment method very quickly.

Tried it, but not user friendly for bulk transactions. Leaning towards Square.

square is solid but rates are higher if no card present like you'd be doing, so you'll want to build that into your costs.
