wheel spacers will be dependent on what size tire you want to run after the lift and if you do not get the right backspacing for the wheels.

Is there a thread or link to a list of things to look for when shopping for
    a used 2nd gen Tacoma ?

I tried searching the site and did not see anything.

My experience is with my own car, and there are typical things
you ask a seller when buying a used one. Like did you replace that,
or fix this, etc... cuz you know the weak spots of a particular
    model vehicle.

I would like to buy a tacoma if my current DD ever dies/gets totaled
and want to have a list of things to look for and stay away from.

Are there any bad years? drive train options to stay away from ?

Anyway thanx for any advice you all have.

Rust. Crawl under that bad boy and look for the cancer.

And get a 2008 or older if you want less of the nanny electronics.

2005-2008. 09+ started the added gizmos. early 2nd gens have weaker tailgates and possible bad motor mounts too.

and yes, being in the NE, definitely need to look for rusted frames. most have it happen near the down pipes from the engine.

Finally someone else that did what I've done! seems like were the only ones that think 20's are cool here in the forums, but i get props and stares at my truck everywhere i go. I put 34" BFG AT KO's on too though, so she looks pretty mean.

One thing in the rust belt that some have been doing for years, is crawl under once a year and squirt bio degradable motor oil onto the frame or paint suspected areas with wheel bearing grease using a foam brush. There is little you can do to stop rust in NE if you aren't aggressive about treating for it. A lot of new Subarus and 4 wd Toyota trucks are sold in NE, not only because they are so good in snow, but because they need replacement becasue of the rust problem.

I know in Ct. they changed the formula of the stuff they spray on the road a few years back. My mech was starting to get brand new cars (less than 1 year old) that needed brake lines replaced due to corrosion....SMH.

Nothing you can do except move...or deal.

I have a 2015 4.0L V6 Access Cab Toyota Tacoma. I am trying to get more horsepower/torque and I don't want to go with a super/turbo charger. I am looking to just get new headers mainly.

    1. What are some good headers to go with?
    2. Am I able to just get new headers and keep the stock exhaust, or do I have to replace both?
    3. Will the new headers fit with the stock exhaust good?

This isn't the right place to present this question. Best bet is to start a separate thread in this same subforum to ask your question as you'll get a lot more viewers and a lot more input. This thread is more for quick tips and pointers and not in-depth conversations.

Does anyone know if you can install 4" spindles in conjunction with my 3" pro comp coil spring lift? Will I need any other suspension parts?

Pretty new here to the taco world. Had my truck since 2012 and have come a pretty good ways with it. No I don't off-road anymore due to putting my last truck into a pond haha, so I've built a mall crawler. I'm sure some will hate on it, but I'm the type of person to always respect a build. Leaving you guys some pictures of it's transformation. :cookiemonster:

    Currently:
6" Pro comp w/es9000 rear shocks
    5100s at .86"
    37x13.50x22 Toyo M/T
    22" Fuel Full Blowns
    Thule MOAB basket
    Yakima roof bars

starting on retrofit headlights soon and then it's on to the interior.
custom center console w/8" JL audio sub. Black neop. seat covers. Double din touch. just have a lot of stuff in mind. I'm 21 and love anything with wheels on it. Hope you guys enjoy.

So i failed to get pictures. But i was tired of everything sliding around in the bed of my truck and didnt want to pay for a bed mat. I took my cheap ass down to the local Tractor Supply and picked up approx. 6 ft of 1/4" horse stall mat for about $30. (its 4ft wide and sold by the ft) took it home took some measurements and cut to fit with a 4ft lvl as a straight edge and a razor blade. works great and looks good too.

I am using a 2" square (or round) piece of soft Foam insulation between the seats to catch french fries and my phone from going into the abyss between the seats and console.
