Hey guys, picked up a 2nd gen last year and have been lurking since. A few months ago, I went about making a tool kit for my truck and figured I’d share. The goal was to make the most compact, comprehensive kit possible, based on the stickied thread with the complete tool list here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ckets-and-wrenches-for-2nd-gen-tacoma.158302/

There are a lot of manufacturers making these modular tool kits, and I found one that already has a lot of crossover with the 2nd gen list. This craftsman set was the best one I found:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QRCCRP3

Once I found the set, I wanted to cram as many of the tools from the list as possible into it, so I designed and 3d printed a new insert for the kit and bought the extra tools to go into it. Of course, had to go with the red filament to match! The result is this:

I had a few of the additional tools on hand and bought the rest of what I needed from Lowes. The extra tools I managed to fit into the kit are the following, mostly Amazon links just because they’re easy:

    Spark Plug Socket - https://www.amazon.com/CRAFTSMAN-Spark-Socket-8-Inch-CMMT43324/dp/B07QG4HD1K/

    10mm Hex Socket - https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-3-8-in-Drive-Hex-Bit-Metric-Driver-Socket/1000595127

    T55 Torx - https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-3-8-in-Drive-Torx-Bit-Torx-Driver-Socket/1000595309

    22mm Socket - https://www.amazon.com/CRAFTSMAN-Shallow-Socket-6-Point-CMMT43585/dp/B07QH8HK2Q/

    24mm Socket - https://www.amazon.com/CRAFTSMAN-Shallow-Socket-12-Point-CMMT44242/dp/B07QKG12CW/

    3/8 to ½ Adapter - https://www.amazon.com/CRAFTSMAN-Socket-Adapter-8-Inch-CMMT99293/dp/B07QJDRZ14/

    Hex Bit Adapter - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R7DW3DY

The handful of tools that are missing are all things that you would likely never wind up needing out in the wild, things like large sockets for diff flanges and axle nuts. I also put together a spreadsheet of all of the other tools and recovery gear I carry in my truck, all of which fits behind/under the back seat, which was one of the other big requirements. It’s attached to this post, if that’s of interest to you. Hope someone else gets some use out of this info!

Update 01/16/23 - Added the STL for the insert so you can make it if you want. Enjoy!

    Very cool!

Do you plan to sell these, or make the STL available?

I'd be in if you were to ever sell these.

Bumping this - I added the STL to the original post if anyone wants to print one out, I won't have time to make them for others. Enjoy!

    That’s pretty cool.
I keep all my tools in the bed tool box.
And of course, they are not at all organized.:anonymous:
