I cut the stud off and drilled it out then put a bolt though it on the driver side to keep the engine from rotating from torque. If you search Mar mount mod a thread should pop up on it on pirate4x4. It did increase vibration at idle but I don't notice it much anymore.

Would make life easier but really would just need the trans wires... shifter, center plastic, speedo, ECU, crossmember, driveshaft...

And that's not even the part that scares me, it's getting the FJ j-shifter to work around the auto shifter box. People be hacking the hell out of stuff and welding wrenches and sh!t to get around that thing haha never really seen a clean one.

Though I have seriously considered going AWD, so that would take care of that problem.

    Tor,
Being you are full of useful knowledge, know anyone who makes motor mounts for an LS Swap into a Taco or Yoda with the same width frame rails? Most likely not available but worth a shot…
I’m still trying to figure out this GM power plant wiring harness and engine management stuff. I’ve sent over two weeks trying to figure out what OEM gas pedal will work with the Tac Module. The gas pedal connects to a Tac Module then the Tac Module connects to the TB but that depends on if your TB has a gold or silver butterfly! GM is changing stuff yearly if not more! Yes everything bolts together but very few work together. I’m beginning to think I should’ve just installed a boosted 4.0 L into the regular cab…
I asked a few guys in my Toyota parts department if any of them have heard of anyone trying this swap.

Oh, I posted I purchased a NOS Tremec TKO w/ .68 OD 5th gear that was still in the original shipping box & setup for all Vette’s up to 72 with the shifter that was attached to the transmission. Then asked if anyone might be interested in the shifter. About 2 days later I got a message about the transmission. Some guy offered to buy the complete transmission. He offered me over $950 more than I paid for it. So I sold it and purchased a new TKX that’s lighter, smaller and stronger that can take shifts at 7500 RPM’s. The TKX has a.72 OD 5th gear so I can go from the 3.73 to a 3.58 gear and with my 28.6” tall rubber at 70 MPH the engine will be turning around 2100 RPM’s

Yeah i'm not looking forward to that on my swap. I'm trying to keep from sacrificing the cup holders without having it look hacked up.
Which t-case would you go with if you went this route?

Not I. My friend from Australia did just mention that Superior Engineer is highly regarded over there. That is all that I know.

That is correct, it would take some work to make that one work. I think the one out of a 03-09 v6 4Runner would bolt up, but they are an electric case. But that one would get you 2wd, 4wd, and AWD from what I understand. I think they are referred to as multi-mode.

4th gen 4runner with the v6 is multi mode.2wd, awd, low range. Then you can lock the center for 4wd and locked low range
And yea I am runny that set up. The 4wd computer is separate from the engine/trans so it can all work independently. with the weather here in co I’ve been driving around in awd for the last 2 months.

last I knew I was 1 of 3 that did the conversion and kept the electronic shift.

    Thanks for clarifying that

sounds like a good option if you don’t want to cut holes in the floor and want to have your cake and eat it too. I am partial to full time AWD but I can see the appeal for all the modes:D

In the 4Runner, is the button on the left side of the dash for AWD? It looks like they have a dial for H2, H4, and L4 and then that other button. Just curious how all that works.

Yes they use the same switch as the Tacoma but it’s light. And the center lock/unlock is on the left side of the steering wheel.

Any idea how AWD high unlocked is selected in the 4Runner? That’s what has me confused. Or is h4 AWD unlocked? That would make more sense and then the center diff lock gets you your 4wd/ 50/50 split

Correct, H4 is unlocked once the 4H shift is complete.

there’re 2 shift forks in the case. The main ones is 2wd-4wd locked-4wd unlocked.
The other fork is high-low range

To clarify. It uses the same shift nob as the Tacoma. But there is an extra button on the left of the steering wheel that cycles the center locker.

the center is a type 2 torsion iirc. The case is 1” longer than a stock taco tcase.
